From my Window

From my window

I saw the sunset.

You crossed my mind

in so many ways that…

There was a loneliness

inside me

that stayed and…

I remained glued

to my window,

refusing to leave

the sunset,

and my thoughts of you

Shared Love

You,

Explored my body

so delicate-ly

I came…

just like the sea

Roaring, muttering,

thrashing & crashing

With a passion

so deep inside of me

Let me dream.

When I see you I loose my breath,

It’s like I give you my all with nothing left,

I act like a school girl by writing your name every where,

But this love is too real and I don’t care,

Your lips make me close my eyes and imagine amazing things,

It reminds of what your sweet touch brings,

Why don’t we just forget the world and build our own little place,

Just you and me,

the birds in the trees,

When you finally get on your knees and ask me for my hand,

We can start our plans,

Don't forget me.

Don’t forget me when I’m dead and gone,

Don’t forget me when you’re all alone,

Don’t forget me when I’m not at home,

Don’t forget me when you say your prayers,

Don’t forget me when you’re really scared,

I’m by your side,

At every time,

I’m watching over you even when your asleep,

There isn’t nothing that I dont see,

I’m sorry that I can’t be by your side,

Just don’t forget and I shall rise,

We shall see each other one of these days,

And we will reminisce in every way,

Phantoms Dance

Phantoms dance

in sunlit rooms

And shadows gather

in the corners

of the cavernous mansion

in which I live

and hide

Inside where there’s

no one else but me,

Refracted and reflected,

stretched out in all dimensions,

The shadows offer

thunderous whispers

And the phantoms rehearse

their eerie, silent,

hushed and beckoning dance

In the hesitating stillness

of the moment before

I release my captured breath,

The phantoms

and the shadows

The Ballad of MDG

Behold my brother, he’s just been born
& his mother feels nothing for him but scorn
Here is my brother, he’s just turned one
& the violence & fury’s already begun

See my dear brother? Now he’s turned two
& it’s a sin and a crime what he has lived through
His face has been broken before his bones even hardened,
he’s been groped & been fondled & more he can’t pardon

Mine Alone

this is my
tragedy

this is my
pain

keep your
words
away from my
gaping wounds

I’ve suffered
enough

without
your viscous
tongue

cutting

deeper

into my new born scars

1985 is My Black Address

I listen
to marillion
at full blast

don’t want
anyone

to hear
me crying
as I baptise
a treasured
and intense
relationship

to the
infinite
universe
of my growing
scars

you have taken
a piece of me
and
hung it
up on a
crucifix

and from
a safe distance
trembling
I watch

as I fade
with my
heartache
to black

God is in the Details

I want to
               Do
Things
            To you …

My fingers dance
Restless, tingling

Remember our
First night?

OH

MY

GAWD!

My tongue trembles
Behind my lips,
Warm, luxurious,

Waiting …

Remember?
That first night?

    Oh
     My
       Gawd!

I'd Rather

I’d Rather be hung and swinging from and oak, than be confused an in denial like some black folks.

I’d Rather be afro-centric, beautiful and bold, than be a famous black tap dancer, in black face, just playing a supporting role.

I’d Rather be a proud black woman of the ages, than not know who I am or where the missing page is.

I’d Rather be blessed to know that my black heritage is more than skin deep, than walk around as a black man and not know that I am free.
