The Heart of America

It’s time to come out
to see the world and how ugly it is
bruises and scars exposed for us to see
by the time the sky above darkens to the deepest gray
till the ray of hope shines down on us
something unknown will be discovered
As we look at this mess
and the dents in our hearts
the heart of America
will break and crumble
until there’s nothing to hold
heart of America
  it’s time to come all
to touch the marks we’ve made
to smell the chaos that haunts streets
by the time we lay
to the time we wake

Chasing Rainbows

Our tale’s unwritten, missed potential
Greets the dawn and fades away
A contradiction caught in silence
‘Will they, wont they?’ - let it play.

We kiss the stars and felt them tremble
Touching twilight, let it dance
So many games now lost in stalemate
‘Will they, won't they?’ – just a chance.

Trust and friendship, mixed with laughter
Soul mates now and ever more
As for passion, well I wonder
‘Will they won’t they?’ - are you sure?

Chasing rainbows, false perception
Mar the journey on to bliss.

truth in photocopiers

I’ll tell you a story,
a true one.
It’s starts out boring,
but gets better.
I worked as a photocopier
(how demeaning is that?
when your job title is the name of your machine.)
But I digress.
I worked as a photocopier.
Not your little office machines.
Great big industrial motherfuckers.
(glad I’m not a great big industrial motherfucker)
I digress easily,
sorry,
it was a boring job.
Reproducing,
not life,
endless needless things seldom read.
(I’m getting near the interesting bit)
(but it gets more boring first)

Thermosed Coffee

Boredom, like a tilted thermos

Jug of hot black coffee,

Flooded o’er to fill my day

And left no room for anything

Else.

The Usual Place

The Usual Place
by Jim Nasium

Tell her I’ll be waiting
at the usual place
she’ll recognize me
by the look on my face

It’s been such a long time
since I’ve been here before
I had promised myself that
I’d not come here no more

But things build up slowly
then they want to explode
of course I’m always looking
for the mother load

The only trouble I have
going back to my old ways
is that I don’t want to leave
I get lost one night for three days

False

eating away
at my guilt

my deranged ego
is a monster
I no longer want

I dislike
being
in the centre

having
all those people
stare

some even
pretend
to care

I want to
close
the curtains
and take
a shower
in my own
much needed
privacy
