Distant Dream

Inevitability brings me back this problem some how
As the victims of time try to figure out
How to keep from growing older and dying out loud
Well these memories, they plague me like a bad disease
It’s all our thoughts, wishes, all the best we intrigued
But over time and consolation prized possessions we spread apart
Like that famous story of the man and the sea

Failure designation

It’s a dark winter night
and you’re afraid you may not hold another fight
Did you lose all your strengths in the promises that you make?
or in the ones that you break?

They’re all gone, and you’re sad?
They no longer share your illusion
that should make you glad

"Another opportunity", you say,
You think "it’s not fair!"
But what have you been throwing away?
Now that their gone, you care?

What are you waiting for?
An opportunity to get offshore?
I thought you wanted more…

Chewed Roses

Chewed roses
on the
blood splattered floor

I feel this
god forsaken place
inside
the temple of my heart

and I am telling you
each brick was cemented
in cold faced hate

I am powerless
I am victim
I am scarred without
I am scarred within
my temple made from
Innocence

I seek Adam
who seeks Eve
I am the Genesis
of my as yet unwritten
Book of Revelation

By Poet's Blood

Somewhere recently as I slept,

A skeeter to my room had crept—

And that’s the story

Behind the story

That by poet’s blood I was

Infected.

Now all that I think I lack

Is for a particle of talent

By one good Samaritan gallant

To be fixedly and capably

Injected.

Light and Air

Though it ought be

Fantasy

Sans risk of trendy

Tragedy,

Our brains do sculpt

In deed and thought

What should be there—

And’s really not—

Most anywhere

There’s light and air.

Just Gave Birth

You might not believe it to look at me now
But I just gave birth…
And what I bore
Is worth a million times more
Than all the material goods on Earth.
My child roams free,
Wild like a lion
In the Serengeti…
My child roars
And raises her paws
And causes
Torrential rain…
My child shakes her mane
And makes it plain
There will be no more storm
And once again,
Everywhere is warm.
My child sighs deeply
With huge satisfaction
And give thanks for the contraction she feels
In her womb
Her uterus,
