Froth and Bubbles

Froth and Bubbles

My thanks to

Adam Lindsay Gordon

1833-1870

(his words in italics)

Life is mostly froth

and bubble[s]

trying to stay out of

other people’s troubles

while winning at post-race chess

aft chancing daily doubles.

Two things stand like stone—

and for this I must

suppress a moan—

Kindness in another’s trouble …

Goodness! you cannot

burst her bubble!

What is she, so accident-prone

and trapped in upper ozone?

Courage in your own.

Now I’m weary—to the bone.

Provoked annoyance

I shall not condone.

Damn! Get off that cell phone!

I

enjoyed this in a really misanthropic, you're-confirming-my-irritation type way. the nettlesome nagivation in live around, in, and finally through (it must done) the problems of others intertwining with our own. sometimes, if we suffer from the very prevalent comparative disease, making them smaller and sometimes making them bigger. and dealing with their ringtones as well--especially in movie THEATRES! great job
