The Quiet
Softly, the doorway dims,
A lingering touch,
Bolt slams home,
The quiet quells the surge.
Stepping so deep,
Awash in nothing,
No plain cry,
The quiet sounds the notes unsung.
Curled up in slumber,
Companion awaiting,
Plight lies feigned,
The quiet frames what comes.
Hold the embrace,
A wistful glance,
Sigh strains space,
The quiet drinks the dark again.

on Veiled Emergence from @Ray Miller
"I've read it several times and still can't work out what the subject is, what is emerging. I note the abundance of commas, surely you don't need all of them! Lines like Time awaits to plumb its depths. Life in flux. are…" -

"Clown" by @Ray Miller
"I love the wordplay in here, it ties back nicely to the central idea of "I'm your clown". The refrain is doing some real heavy lifting keeping the clowning/laughter register through the three stages of the arc (meeting…" -

"I can't really get to grips with the poem, but I do like "An earnest lean" very much." -

"Lifeboat" by @jerico
"This resonated with me. The loneliness and isolation comes through. A couple of things tugged at me: The literal image of the darkness and shadows pulls me in two directions at once: for there to be shadows, there must…" -

"Mine Light" by @Sid
"This poem reads like it’s about getting out of a bad or difficult situation and finally finding agency. The alternating rhyme works without being overly sing-song. The line length and consistency of rhyme is impressive…" -

"I am a violent dog." by @luce
"This was an interesting poem. The multitude of ways we "tame" a dog truly comes out. The second stanza threw me off a bit though: "to be a man" and the reference to sweeping floors pulled me out of the main dog-view for…" -

"Ways To Pray" by @davidgambro31
"I'm not sure the AI's take really does this justice: the rawness of the juxtaposition of the various ways people seek salvation and meaning are definitely somewhat well-trodden, but that doesn't diminish the overall pie…" -

"The Wizard" by @TheWanderer78
"Ah, that context changes how I read that section. Like the passing of days with nothing really changing, same old, same old. Makes sense! I also wanted to point out something I particularly like (though it might be cons…" -

"The Wizard" by @TheWanderer78
"I like the poem's concept, especially the last turn on ";alone": it reframes the entirety of the preceding poem and made me go back and reread it with the new context. Only two things strained my ear a little: the AABB…" -

About Me
I've been writing poetry and music off and on for years, and my interest and urge to write has recently been rekindled! I'm looking to engage with other poets and have people (beyond me 😆) read, enjoy, critique, rip apart—anything, really!—my work so I can grow as a poet and craftsman.
