Flashing Dart
A vibrant chaotic dance,
Weaving among the tall reeds,
It darts left with a fluttering flash,
A sudden drop — crashing towards the wet,
But a swooshing rise averts the end.
Starting,
Rising.
Wings beat in tandem, glittering,
Blue-black shimmer against an olive drape,
Colour amidst the hazy grey,
Flashing chaos in motion,
Faster than my human eyes.
Falling,
Stopping.
A pair joins the turn,
Flitting around yet apart,
White tops sway in random swells,
A dancing tapestry of iridescent light,
Unfolds before my blinded eyes.

I really enjoyed reading…
I really enjoyed reading this! It creates such a vivid, energetic snapshot of nature in motion—the imagery of the blue-black shimmer against the olive reeds is lovely and really stands out.
I also loved how you used those short two-word stanzas ('Starting, / Rising.' and 'Falling, / Stopping.'). They do a great job of mimicking the sudden, erratic way dragonflies move through the air, which adds a really cool rhythm to the piece.
Keep em coming.
