Morning Mousie

‘Morning, mousie in the housie

Puss’s got the munchies

For yummy little crunchies –

You’d best be on your way

Rev ‘em up, your little pawses,

Cat’s relentless, never pauses

It’s just his nature and that’s because he’s

Been cravin’ mousie-pie all day

Little mouse, I’ve got a hunch

Puss-cat thinks your name is lunch

He’ll reduce you to a furry bunch

Of gristle, bones and clay

So, little rodent, if you’re smart

You’ll get yourself a good head-start

Crescent Waltz

She slants her shining, golden glance

Across desert, mountains, rivers, plants

Greets her rising, true romance

In the purpling, opposite skies

Her lunar love, her heart’s delight

Soars to ever darker height

For each, the other’s perfect, right

It’s on their wings time flies

She seems asleep within the night

Yet always, somewhere, she’s brilliant, bright

Motionless in constant flight

Each day its own surprise

They’ll never meet – there’s not a chance

Little Hands

Little hands, folded, praying suppertime grace,

Little hands, laughing, caressing my face

Little hands, gluing, covered in paste

Little hands, sticky, fixing a vase

Little hands, strumming, trying to play bass

Little hands, twirling, giving butterfly chase

Little hands, toddling, trying to keep pace

Little hands, trusting, in big hands encased

Little hands, running, winning a race

Little hands, dancing, dressed up in lace

Little hands, dreaming, in a far-away place

Startled Grasshoppers

A floral blanket of silence

Lies out across the desert

Nothing moves-not air

Nor trees

       Nor blades of grass

The ogre’s breath is held

Suspended, then expelled

Stomping his feet,

Flashing his eyes,

Grumbling, the ogre

Blows

And, grumbling, cries

Fat sheeted tears –

Trees quickly bow

Shaken green heads as

The silent blanket erupts

In oceanic waves

Modus Operandi

To you:
Sometimes they will cheer,
Sometimes they will hate,
Sometimes they will even fear;
For that’s the Hero’s Fate.

But you’re a hero, stand up for the True!
Be yourself that much you can do!

And stand up for some other
and take your hero even further.
Protect the weak and never let the Good falls
You’re a Hero, never reject your heart when it calls.

Even if you don’t wear a ‘S’ or a cape
What different does it make?
You’re a hero if you hear your Call and take it…
believe it, and never fake it.

The Creation of Dog and Cat

Adam said to God, one day

"I need a reminder of your love."

And then, God said, "No problem."

And he sent dog down from above.

Dog’s love and adoration

he gave Adam without fail,

dog loved Adam in spite of himself

dog was happy, and wagged his tail.

Then an angel came to God, and said

"That’s too much to be allowed…

Love Recognized

Take all the sand on every beach

and put them in an hour glass,

and I’ll love you for eternity

and that would go by too fast.

Take all the stars that shine at night

and add them to the sun,

that’s how bright my love would shine

announcing we are one.

Together, the two of us are one

when apart, I feel like half,

for you give me my happiness,

my joy, my smile, my laugh.

So I make this declaration

to the angels up above,

if you hadn’t taken my hand

I would never have recognized Love.

The Love Poem

Tell someone that you love them

tell them how you feel,

share with them the intimacy

that makes your heartbeat real.

Tell someone you’re worried

about how they’re making it,

and that you have concern

for their welfare, a little bit.

Give someone a listen

and hold what they share really near,

let them know that you care

The Bus Ride

I was riding the bus

it seemed like for hours,

when I noticed an older man

and he was holding some flowers.

I kept admiring them

now and again,

when he suddenly came over

and said, "Excuse me, friend…

I noticed you looking

at the flowers, and me,

and I think that my wife

would like you to have them, you see.

doppelganger

when the streets grow pale and crisp
with icy snaps of frosted moonlight
he may emerge, coloring
every chilled breath taken by
the solitary citygoer. a costumed
deja vu, he issues dim calls to
remembrance in the slinking itches
shadows plant far back in the smoke
machine of memory. a buckled succubus,
drawing drowsily on sleepy hesitation
he studs our lazy dreams with silver
foxes, moving quickly through to our
waking moments. growing stronger, he
bleeds inky halos over the slim lines
written in apathetic glee. you may
