Combination

You fed her pollutants through your promises
which strangled her every word.
prevented her last breath
of fresh air
to escape
and reach out to your raw, blackened, lungs.
YOU trapped her in an abyss of turmoil
allowed her to wield thoughts of blame inside and
rest
while
she digested the stench of your vile breath
and she continued to inhale your intoxication.
Bent out of shape
her limbs  move
Fluctuate into this new organic

Woman

Woman
(A Native American View of Woman)

Woman, Thank you we owe so much to you.
Woman, Mother of Man whose fears are calmed under
Your gentle hand.

Women so brave and true all goodness flows from you.

From the moment of birth your heart was touched by the
Great Spirit making you one
With Our Mother Earth.

Stagnant

It’s stagnant air
and I can’t breathe.
                                    Never circulates
                                           when I’m sick.
It just sits there
like heavy smoke

Erie

I am at peace
for the first time in forever.
My head is calm
in as long as I remember.
This is my home.
Built by my father’s hands
and left to me
to take care of
and live in.
I am a part of it,
a part of his creation.
Everything I see,
everything I don’t see
he has engineered.
The very concept of sight,
the thoughts,
the images in my brain
he previewed before my birth.
I am connected to this place.
To the fish, the water, the setting sun,
down to the bricks of the lighthouse
on the west pier head,

Jacob's Field

We are ready
at 2:05 P.M.
to waltz through Gate A,
and receive our beach hats
emblazoned with Chief Wahoo,
and the Plain Dealer -
as long as we’ll shill their rag.
This afternoon Joshua and I
are up in section 519,
the nosebleeds,
the cheap seats,
the best part of the ballpark.
I love real people,
and here’s where we’ll find them.
"Get your oxygen tank, son.
We’re goin’ for a hike!"
Really, I don’t know what possesed me
to take the Ontario Street ramp,
but it’s 30 stories up.

The Real Mushroom Stew

Do not measure any ingredient
math is for scientists.
 I am an artist
and a scientist.
Begin with portabellos for body
and toss them in EVO.
Add oyster, shiitake, and lobster mushrooms to the grill in a foil package with some of the oil.
Grill the ports, sprinkling them liberally with Kosher salt and black pepper.
(it does make a difference if you use white or black. White is too fiery, and I want Earthy.)
To the grill add red Bermuda onions sliced thickly.
(now you have aroma!)

"Three Red Lights and a Left Turn."

Funny where your mind can take you
Sometimes
our bodies
react
to things
automatically

I had been
thinking
of us
in
better days

When November skies
blew Mulberry leaves
across
our faces

It
was
cold
so very
cold

You loaned me your fathers college sweat shirt.
We sat in your back yard
cuddled
drank
white wine

That was a special day
in every way
our future was
just a
dusting of
possibilities

I can still see
your smiling eyes
feel

"Jack O' the Shadows"

Fire Blooms where my gaze lingers.
Smoking Asphalt marks my tread.

I smoke dinosaur bones in my pipe.
Its petrochemical stench covers the land.

I turned the destroyer of worlds into a cowboy.
Avatars and Demons my friends.

Cut me and I bleed green acid.
Run from me you cannot, deny me you can’t.

I speak to your from shadows and flame.
Eyeless sockets covered by Raybans.

Tombstones make my teeth.
Rattlesnakes cover my head.

My skin has turned black.
