Heat Wave
Sun blazing
cloudless sky
no breeze to be felt.
Air full of steam
like walking into a sauna
opening my body's faucet.
Droplets of water
line up on my forehead
and trickle down my back.
Gazing upon what was once lush green grass
my view now is parched, brown and brittle.
Water is stemmed
in the former babbling brook.
Dog days of summer
Read the rest of the poem Show less
leave me and the earth panting.
We are in need of alleviation
howling for a reprieve.

"The Disguise" by @some human
"The "you're one big dullard" sentence seemed an awkward fit with the rest of the piece. Just an opinion. All poetry being subjective." -

"Life and death. Wouldn't it be amazing if pain did not exist, but perhaps it gives one a better appreciation for pleasure and comfort." -
