The will
Do you know how it is to be
eternally haunted?
Your pain turns to fear,
your dreams turn to nightmares.
Haunted by your past
and driven by emotions
that couldn't leave your body
in a safe, steady motion.
So afraid of darkness
but only her gives you peace.
When the night finally comes
you can freely release.
So scared to be lonely
you push people away

even when they are longing,
when they want you to stay.
So if you're looking for signs -
- the messenger has arrived.
In this poem I'll tell you
your resistance was mine.
You can take a deep breath
and repeat after me:
there are things I called mine,
now I'm setting them free.
There's no point in settling
for what no longer serves you.
There's reason in pain,
there's meaning in failure.
If you struggle - let's grasp it.
If you're hurting - let's hurt.
There's no reason to hold on,
what has passed can't return.
Knowing something is a start,
Understanding's for context.
Letting go is the hardest,
but it's needed to progress.
So don't fear connection,
It's okay to be chosen.
And if your heart breaks -
- make sure it breaks open.
