rain won't understand

two joined, separated
a brother now one
and his brother's friend
a friend that loved
filled that emptiness
that hearth and home
could not mend
one fateful day
their ways crossed
to wayward wend

what tears run streaks
on your redded cheeks
why the furtive pulse
in your eyes it shows
so plain a plan
to bring him back
though a means to do
so sorely lack

Love Never Goes To Sleep

She was laughter in the kitchen,
as she baked a shiny dime into one biscuit
that magically always went to one child
but never to her.
Fun in the way sunlight is fun-
easy, warm, impossible to ignore.

Nights were her quiet vigil.
She never closed her eyes
until every child had crossed the threshold,
until she heard the familiar footsteps,
until she knew the world had been kind
to the ones she loved most.

Pretty Good

Across Multiverses

Somewhere out in the world right now
A woman is opening the door
Getting bad news as she holds her children
While somewhere in a different universe
She is welcoming her husband home
And maybe somewhere in the multiverse
He is still searching for her…

The Leaf

The Leaf

Soil absorbs the planted seed
That begins, as a sprout
Then becomes
a tree.

The tree
grows branches,
Then gives birth to leaves
That live, for a season,
full of color,
so green.
Then they
burst forth
in multi hewed sheens.
Only to fall
to their death
By some
unseen decree.

parallel...

the universe sparks
when ideas clash, wars break out

evolution keeps grinding, smiling
"It is what it is"

the scarred heart grasps at 'sugar straws'
but carbohydrates fill the soul

parallel paths side-eyed forever

recross

"recross"

nature wisely prevents crosswires
and so, some groups part ways

timing and reason all considered
that is all at once sad and pragmatic

the sentimentalist within rails on, so
but the inner realist grasps the deal

perhaps some day paths will recross

starlight serenade

...here I am—oblivious
in the nook of a cottage
by a casement window;
a tattered chapbook in hand,
and with each verse consumed
my gaze pierces out through
the starry night... to a yonder
old light that guides no more
sentient burdened thoughts,

Am I Me?

Am I who I want to be?
This version of me, where life feels so exhilarating,
Where every living moment feels like mine.
A moment in time where freedom is the only road ahead,
but the echoes of what I’ve carried follow close behind.
Drowning me. Suffocating me. Claiming every part of who I am.

I yearn to be the person I want,
to show that change does not have to come with loss.
But to be the person You want,
You must destroy the person You are.

If Time Listened To Me

Rewriting Memory

if time listened to me
I’d ask it to give me more time
so that all the happy memories feel strong longer
and last longer
to the point my soul would feel sublime

if time heard my reasons
then all the melancholic days would be a blast
everything sad would then be on the upside
with great vibes
making each moment better than the last
