Illusions

Mirrors on the walls,
Mirrors are the walls,
You see your self,
You look,
But can you really truly see?
Do you see what I do?
The beauty of your being?
The kindness of your heart?
No…you don’t.
All you see is the wrong you’ve done
The people you’ve hurt,
The ugliness of yourself.
You don’t see what I see,
When I look at you,
You don’t see the wonderful person,
Who can’t tell how truly extraordinary they are.

Women of the World

Sadden eyes,
Bleeding wrist,
Bodies numb,
Another trip,
Cuts all over,
Another screw,
Just to feel,
This is what we do.
The women of the world,
Have fallen so far,
No love for ourselves,
No love for another.
Sadden eyes,
Bleeding wrist,
Is this how you
Want your daughter
To be?

MAKE THE CHANGE

God knew all their thoughts

‘Our side is righteous; our cause is just’ and each group cheered

God knew them all

And as they burned and killed each other

They filled the air with chants of hatred and vengeance

God did not intervene

The screams of the innocents

The broken children’s bodies silent in death

The explosions that rent the air

A GREATER STORY TO BE TOLD

Does a tree louse look beyond the bark?

Or perceive the wonder of intruding light

Fell the scented breeze

Or touch the sky with upturn of gaze

Would an ant ever stop to wonder why?

It has to work and work

And toil unceasingly with its brothers

Or see the beauty of the ground it walks

A The Crossroads

I am standing at the crossroads, not knowing what to expect, only the things in life I could not change, I’ll just have to except

God knows my heart,  if I have suffered or if I have gained, any sins I have committed, or anyone I have caused pain

When I get to the crossroads, I know God will be there to take my hand, and tell me the worst is over, that my happiness can begin

I know I ‘ll see my mother, she’ll be smiling from ear to ear, she’ll tell me that she’s been waiting for me, as her hand reaches up to wipe my tears

PENNIES

PENNIES

Lately, walking eyes down

to avoid ice and snow

I’ve been finding

pennies,

rarely

nickels and dimes.

I pocket them

without counting

later, drop

them in a jar

and watch the treasure grow.

When I see that stash

I wonder:

had I been looking for the

rainbow’s end

would I have found

my pennies?

do I neglect

the pennies I possess

my days

my loves

my triumphs and sorrows

Rock, Paper, Scissors

A rock of courage cascades down a mountain of hope,

Gathering momentum as it rolls over new seedlings of truth,

Antithesizing the stories of agony scripted on wilted paper

It crushes these fetal trees to a pulp,

Milling fresh pages for a new chapter,

A hopeful pair of scissors cuts loose the binding that holds the mistakes of the past.

To be replaced with my lessons learned in this novel called life

Letting Go

How do you let go

Your heart wrapped up like a bow

Memories trapped in my mind

Roads traveled together that wind

Crushing pain that won’t stop

Tears fill my eyes to the top

How do solve this riddle

I’m stuck in the middle

I know it’s for the best

Still I can’t rest

Soul Mate

You are my soul mate, free from all despair. Draped in love, you slumber without care. You dream of me. Of stolen hearts and celebrated bliss, Captured on the wings of our first kiss. I dream of you. Fresh desire wound tight with pure devotion. Delivered by your touch and raw emotion. I am your soul mate, caught in timeless grace. Unbidden tears fall fast with each embrace. I hold the key To passion’s garden laced with threads of gold. With trust the veils of mystery will unfold. You hold the key To sheer delight, sweet torment when I feel Your strength, your warmth, your kindness is for real
