Cleveland

Sad,
little, impotent Cleveland
I’m sick of you.
I’ve been in your rusty grip most of
 31 years,
poor man, in a poor city.
You don’t recognize or cherish
the things you have,
little impotent Cleveland.
I’ve had it
with your thankless attitude
and the way you drive
good men out of town.
And your good women?
They’re hardly worth looking at
once you’ve gotten your negative paws around them,
your rusty hands.
I don’t think you’ll be happy
until everybody in your borders
is a miserable failure like you,

Neon Purple Wishes

1.
Neon purple wishes
play their games outside.
Dance over Brother’s Lounge.
(I’ve got a few secrets about that spot.)
Two A.M. junkies
dance, dance
under the streetlights
reflecting off my window.
I shielded my eyes
so I could sleep
looking at the thing.
Neon purple wishes
dance across the street.
Kinetic fantasy
roaming my dreams.
Neon purple wishes
polka in the smog.
Pleasant Valley’s
not too far away
on a Thursday night
if the traffic cop’s will listen.
Neon purple wishes
upset my balance,

Bloody Lips

Bloody lips,
and that tarnished helmet,
tilted so.
Obscuring your features.
Staid and emotionless
while we gawk
in sincere shrieks
of terror,
and mortification.
There are no laws of justification
in this unjust paradigm
we brazenly call ours,
as if entitled
to possession,
and frivolity.
“Where’s the harm
in bloody lips,”
I say?

Run Free Wild Bull

Run free wild bull
wherever you sleep.
Run freely and wild
towards the Great Spirit.

Run free wild bull
run freely and fast.
Where sky meets horizon,
run freely, at last.
Sleep sweet quiet eagle.
Sleep sweetly in dream.
Sleep softly in silence
while spirits soar free.

Soar wild and free
wherever you roam.
Soar oft the Grand Tetons
till you find a home.

Run free wild bull,
run free as the wind.
Run till you find something
worthy of dreams.

Run free wild bull,

Leech

The leech has reared
an ugly suckling head
into my imagination.
Painstakingly profitable
the leech has come to feed.
The Leech has come to feed!
This elephant will sit on our
backs
and plot COMPLEXITIES for us!
At just $7.99/lb.
Gotta chessboard?
The leech has drained the bird
sucked it DRY.
The Phoenix is gone
its spirit broken.
The leech has come to feed!
Never satisfied in its
lust for blood.
Never satisfied in its

Blade

A moment’s inattention and oh,
Steel pierces his flesh.
And oh dear,
lots of claret quickly soaks his sock.
But,
Hard man.
Patch it up.
Back to work.
The redness oozing through his white overalls,
a badge of manhood.
Or perhaps defloration of his thigh

The gibbous moon

The gibbous moon,
Peering over sunset tinted clouds,
Laid down a sussurating path of light through the ocean,
Inviting me home

Chaos

Revel in the chaos...
dance to the divine complexity of the universe.
Those who don’t live at the edge
take up too much space.

I.

I.

(You are a Cobra)

You’ve sharp
features
and a friendly smile
that belie what you’re thinking.
If I touched your skin,
you would be cold - blooded
and you would press yourself back
in a threatening manner.
There is little in you
that I can trust,
you are a cobra,
with gleaming cold eyes
and only knowledge
leading your way.
 II.
(You are a Viper)
Which world do
I want to live in?
One of positive energy
and reinforcement.
I want to live
in the place
