Mistress Love...

The cruel indifference of her touch
Set his heart to pounding
He held his breath
Against her breast

She breathed... even as her heart beat
Her barely warm embrace
Chilled his bones
Made him gasp

Needing a connection, he shivered
Stumbling, he mumbled...
Had to say it; “I love you”
Stupid move

Ice cold skin and pale blue eyes
Luke-warm breath
Damped the fires
No passion

She feigned disappointment
Took the blame
He let her
Castrated

Steel Your Will

When the voices of doubts
threaten to halt your will to strive
and people with cruel thoughts,
their words stab you like a knife.

You see the unbelievers unite
to squander your hopes and dreams
and turn you into ashes in the night
whlle they watch and laugh as you scream.

When your heart aches to walk away,
to be free from the tension they bring
Don't bow, don't surrender, don't stray
but be the little bee with a mighty sting,

BITTER IS THE SWEET

BITTER IS THE SWEET

I live your memory every day .
love knows no distance in time
today you are even stronger in my mind
and my heart and soul sorrows
as this long journey nears its own end
I cannot touch the moments gone by.
to remember can be a hurtful thing,
a bitter-sweet thing always lingering

Alice

Alice

As Alice arrives at the Hospital door
a couple smile and say hello.
The girl who is heavy with child
asks which way they should go.

Alice leans over to reach him
to kiss him for one last goodbye.
A silent tear rolls down her face
as with sadness she begins to cry.

They’d been together a very long time
thinking they had more years to come.
But illness came and frailty ensued
now their life together is done.

Risk

risk...
waking up...
the monster under the bed...
the slippery bathroom floor...
the electricity in the kitchen...
the traffic...
Then everything we do affects everyone we encounter
whether we choose to take a risk or not.
Not is conservative,
a suffocating envelope,
a cocoon of ignorance.

Living life
is being a meme.

Weekend Dad

It’s Saturday morning at Ronald McDonald’s,
a happy place where a red-haired clown holds sway
and kids find toys in every Happy Meal box.

It’s a happy place where we single fathers bring
our weekend kids to kick off two days of
compressed amusement, recreation and happiness.

My little girl and I sit and talk, between
bites of muffins and sips of hot chocolate,
about school, friends, pets … mommy and home.

adapshunned

I grew tired of the fake
Likes hearts smiles
reminded me of Valentine
what truths discussions
shared...Nothing
three words a day
Is this living
a friendship
conversation
No

I am at that window
willing too live as I
once had done
In real
writing real letters
talking to a voice
on the phone
(no one has time
too busy checking
their mail...)

thank god for buttons
to delete accounts
delete works

Faith

My faith was never a beacon of light
more of a flickering candle at night.
My Father’s beliefs were always strong
perhaps somehow I got it all wrong.
In spite of those hymns I love to sing
for me it’s more a borderline thing.

But I see things in a different way
I don’t spend time praying each day.
For me God’s love is practical too
shared with others in the things we do.
Through help we give to those in need
whoever they are, whatever their creed.

We and our Mountains

Come my boy,
Sit down,
I’ll tell you about my time,
My time in my old town,
Which I hope is doing well,
I passed and left long ago,
Keeping the comedy alive,
For you see there was nothing grand about my time,
But it was a charming time,
A warm time,
All we had then were jokes,
All we had were our mountains,
Mountains full of pride,
Which stood so tall,

It was a charming time,
Difficult nonetheless,
For you see,
My beloved lost her mind,
And it was difficult for me,
