Coffee Beans

You've been so hard,
I've been so mean,
I wanted you
_No matter what!

Ruthlessly
I got you ground
To brew
My mourning mug

BLACKBIRD (acrostic)

Nearly midnight he comes calling,
Evening but a memory.
Vision blurring, eyelids falling
Eventual sleep is stalking me.
Right before dreams take my night
Mild tapping wakes me from near sleep.
Outside the moon is full and bright
Ravens through my widows peep.
Ever croaking "nevermore"...

I Do Not Salute

I do not salute the acres of soldier’s graves.
Death was the price paid for something,
But usually nothing at all.
Instead I knell, and lower my head,
I know this could be as much my fate,
Or my sons, as the millions before them.

22yrs on. prolegomenon

I still remember

There were yellow
droplets on glass,
as vast oceans
drained of water.

Time slowed and stilled
I swayed to my knees
in an instant I was alone
unprotected, unprepared

Standing again,
I wandered between palms
astonished and stupefied
I wondered at a perfect sight
twinkling in my southern sky

Why did the stars not fall
how had the moon not bowed,
repeatedly sobbing, why,
but God never answered

Alone

That feeling deep inside that's hidden by a simple side smile
the one you try to make last awhile the one
that you feel deep in your gut and the deeper you cut feels harder to reach for
to make those feelings slide deep away in a place you cant feel anymore because in your loneliness when you push so far inside you feel comforted by yourself and the reason you feel comforted is because in the end the only person you can count on is you
the only person who wont give up on you, is you.

Aurora

We waited for an hour or two
that Sunday afternoon,
crossing the tracks
at the Aurora Metra station
because of the construction.

I didn't know.
I swear I didn't know
that entire week
would be the end of us.

It was hot that day;
we escaped by slipping inside
the concourse
with its sticky floors
and vending machines
and the water fountain the janitor
warned my son about.

Alone

Today I sat alone by my window
And watched the snow fall on the ground
I looked at your pictures
I listened to your songs
But Today I sat alone.

My heart breaks deep down inside
Cause I’m wishing you were by my side
My thoughts they reach out to you
My tears cleanse my sole
But Today I sat alone.

I have your beautiful memories
But I feel so alone
My heart breaks deep down inside
My tears cleanse my sole
But Today I sat alone.

Summer Eve Musk

In the darkened eye of our suspended night
Your aura is moving into mine
Begin the rite...pull me close
Ancient steps in a newfound yearning
You are my dream of a dream unguarded
I will bend to your unwritten song
Love me as we move together
Clothed in kisses that shiver with truth
Forfeit your guards and fortresses
Swallow the candle and draw down the moon
Lay me down on the summer eve musk
Fall with me fall into me fall
Time moving slower than honey
Weave yourself into my pale arabesque

Fragrance of Love

Very beautiful poetry
of a love
between a rose
and a poet in Neo-me

we seek love and find fragrance
we seek fragrance and discover love
what a juxtaposition 'tis

fragrance and love intermix

we love to meet
sweet fragrance dearly
and love makes us feel
the rose in me
is fragrance only
admiration and politeness
encompasses but naturally

MEASURING UP

I see those rows, all of those rows
of white on verdant fields of green
there where scattered hardwood grows.
Men who saw what I have never seen.

When seeing them dark doubts assail me.
Have I earned what these heroes gave,
those resting here eternally
below white stones in their deep grave.

They gave their all that I might live
in a country strong and free.
I was never called to give.
How might such warriors view me?
