Waiting For You

I wait for you

as the clock kept chiming

where are you my son

your curfew is past

driving that car out late

why can't  you appreciate

my sleep time

the nite's quiet time

as sleep does not come easy

till you walk in,then

I hear the door

close once more

a kiss good nite

I know you're alright

now go to bed

it is late, the work

day is waiting

soon it will be

a half past eight.

My curfew was ten, I'm afraid I made my mom stay up late on more than a few occasions :( always told her to just go to bed but she never did till I came home. That's a mom for ya. Hope your son comes home safe and soon so you can sleep. Goodnight. Peace and cheers, logic

Mona

I waited(past tense) keeps chiming( present tense) so perhaps either kept chiming or I wait for you would bring them into the same tense I know the feeling well I had a young one once( well she is still young) Logice a mother never stops worrying about their children , it's an inbred thing Chrys

how this one made me

how this one made me smile... i remember my mother waiting up for all her children as they came of an age when they were allowed a later home time. it didn't matter what time it was, i would come home to find her asleep on the lounge chair where she woud wait 'til dawn if she had to mothers the world over would cry 'comrade!' on reading this mine are not at that age yet... thank goodness! i can still sleep soundly lovingly written mona. i like your structure, the way it falls down the page a wee thing... line 1, waited line 2 keeps 2 different tenses i very much enjoyed the read, and the memories it brought back to me cheers lovely lady p

Why of course we love them at all!!!

We just don't rest too easy when it is late and they are still about. Joey went to the show and then to Applebee's last nite and got in a little after his curfew so I let him have it today and warned him never never on a work nite for me again..lol I am just thankful he came home!! Glad to see you Hobo and you are back for awhile now? Love at ya Mona xoxox

Dear Mona

Nice poem. I remember my mum calling the police if we were more that 3 hours late home when we were very young. Xena Quote: Science is what you know; philosophy is what you don't know. - Bertrand Russell

RE: Waiting For You

An enjoyable piece; liked the flow and feel, as the seconds tick away; although I'm not a parent, I've experienced similar events, while waiting on spouses and other loved ones; it's never easy to keep worry at bay - until they show up at home, safe and sound. --Joe Breunig Reaching Towards His Unbounded Glory

Amen to that one friend

Yes the teen years and I guess my brothers did the same thing my son does and yes to hear the door open and the sound of the car in the driveway is always a relief especially past midnite. Thanks for your visit and come again soon Blessings Mona

Vey Nice Work

This one reminded me of how I used to worry my Mother sick when I was young. She always said she couldn't rest until all seven of her daughters were home at night. Nice poem, Mona. ~I never say anything I don't mean nor do I say anything to be mean.~

My father used to tell me

"nothing good happens after Midnite", but I wouldn't head out until 11 p.m. anyways! Being a Dad now, I understand the anxiety waiting for the kids to come strolliing in... such a dangerous world these days. Beautiful write, thanks for sharing. (Check out my poem "I Don't Want", you will relate I'm sure) Tom

Thank you so Tom

For stopping by and reading and yes as my son is 17 these are the years that are the hardest for some parents and for some teens also. I stay very open minded with my son, always have. We have great talks and I assure him he does his part and mom does hers. We are a team and just like a Neo sometimes we knock heads but we always resort to love and communication being the most important aspect of family and friendships. I was listening to your profile page again and when I do it makes me think alot of you and what you endured in your life. No words can ever express what I feel to someone I do not even know but just know I share them with you and know of your hurts. Much love at ya guy Mona
