Handsome flower
I guess what I fail to understand
Is how you could claim to love me
And yet I am destroyed by your hand
I remember a time
When there was no sweeter sound
Than your voice
Filled with admiration and praise for me
And now we are ghosts passing each other
In the hallways of the home I bought for us
Once thought too small for the family I envisioned with you
Now far too large
My sobs echo
While your lack of affection
Deafens me

I wish I could be a flower
Or a blade of grass
In the garden of you
To see what you see
And come to terms with what you do
I want to know what I could have done
To fall out of your favor
To be abandoned by you
My goddess
My deity
I prayed for you
For all of my life
I have given everything I was
In the name of worshiping you
I must have blurred the lines
I must have put you on a pedestal so high
You feared I would let you fall
So instead you jump
Right into another's embrace
Maybe I brought this upon us
By my frequent worry
My belief that you needed more
That I did not water your grass enough
I swear if I could have foreseen
This outcome I would have done all I could to change it
I was your handsome girl
Your love
Your forever
And now I am your yesterday
I am the wilted flower
You decided disrupted your view
You could have watered me
But you chose to rip my roots from the ground and discard me
Leaving me to suffer this alone
I love you
I miss you
I will always be your handsome flower
