on path

to be kind to others

I often try—

and then, to my surprise,

prevail to cry:

as I approached, late yesterday,

a woodsy crossing path,

I yielded proper right-of-way

to a passing butterfly.

I swear she nodded gratefully

as she zigzagged her way

(and did so

so very cheerfully)

right on by.

that's it!

she said she wants

a line with grit

that’s quite well writ.

well, there it is!

that’s it!

I’ve done my bit.

I hope that line’s

with her a hit.

with that remark,

I quit.

I'm down

I’m down with Chief Joseph:

"I will fight no more,

Forever."

MY GRANDPA AND HIS STICK

My Grandpa and His Stick

He is no more to say here, but
his stick is there at the corner
It is strong and good as
my sweet old man
Who took my family as a team
his courage and love still has it’s beam

Though he was buried in the earth
his soul and love leads my family still
His stick guards my home from ill
from all polluting evils

It comes everyday in our use
Of course as my lovely grandpa, it helps
Any thing which is having lovely values
should be kept as treasure of our wealth

My Love For You

To the rocky ledge I crept;
It was later that I leapt.

I died, in any event,
And then it was to hell I went.

My love for you I kept.
Did you get the mail I sent?

but she wasn’t who she seemed.
No I doe no

bout no war in Iraq.
Why? when I can sit back
and lay up mah feet.

The Depression in My Driveway

Ninety – two degrees outside
and it seems the perfect time
to finish what I’ve started
five Sundays ago.
In my driveway
weeds and soil have been overturned,
and now the whole thing needs edging.
At 120’ this seems like an easy job
at six in the evening
with three hours of sunlight left.
So, to Home Depot
and three buckets of blacktop patch,
one shovel,
a squeegee,
and a discount corn broom later I am ready for action.
Ninety – two degrees outside,
three beers,
and two and a half hours.
(plenty of time)
