Wa Hey!

On top of the world here down under
leaping from blunder to plunder
I dance round my flat
in a very cool hat
my head full of thunder and wonder

to Leazle

i took your picture from my heart and hung it on the wall
in the corridor where you used to passage through.
when the night is idle in worship and the passion call
i will walk through the hallway and visit you.

our dreams will remain in the closets of our yesterday
though i will have to move on to tomorrow
i know that i will have to do it on my own; my way
i have no regrets or remorse but only sorrow

Diplomatic Smiles

how you doin'?
is that a question, or a salutation?
do I answer the query, or just respond with a nod?

social cues confuse
is that why the whole world is messed up
nobody knows what the other is actually saying

we think we know, then upon reflection
say to ourselves, huh!
oh! well, he'll think now I'm an idiot

but I've always assumed he was
so now what?

...on to the next bit 'a biz

what's happenin'?

GENTLER TRAILS

Too many roads for miles around
pass by places steep and wild
where in my youth I might be found.
Back then these hills seemed tame and mild.

Sometimes I'll stop at such a place
and think of times I spent in there
back when I had a strong sure pace
and young legs took me everywhere.

On That steep ridge long years ago
as dusk defeated a long day
an owl's flaring dive startled me so
I decided to be on my way.

Morpheus Magic

Morpheus Magic

Membrane pulses, nearly parting,
naked thoughts assail its wall
twixt sleep and dream a portal opens
into chaos all shall fall

twisting neurons, helter skelter,
memories that never were
time itself is topsy turvy
and the cosmos is a blur

Heartbreak Facades

Little cocktail girl on the stage
Spotlight on your perfection
Hiding with make up your age
Men whistle in heat for intersection

Slow, sensual, dirty saxophone in agony
Stained your lips, in blood pursed song
A song of spite in bluesy key,
Anger for he who did you wrong

Men hush up in immaculate silence
As you wish curse, and hex, and violence
Girls like you should be unbroken
You let him have it, stab him, choke him

21st Century Faux Pox

is it my own fault
or is life just hard
is there more than a milkshake
in a broken down yard

does he dress to the left
with a hand on his hip
is she right on the money
can she now get a grip

will a flower grow up
where a tree fell down
will a cure for their riches
and itches be found

There's A First For Everything

my body shook, bones literally rattled,
i had never heard such loud music before.
i leapt upstairs to come back for more
and lights flashed. a crowd of bodies writhed.
ava stopped me from dancing with too-drunk girl,
and my head spun. i couldn't remember
who had put the cotton balls in my ears
or when they got there
but i remembered them cheering when i sang karaoke.
i remembered hands on my hips
and smiling just to smile because
there were people like me, and lots of them.

Springs Revival

All of earth awakens
Spring begins to yawn,
Plumes of breath exhaled
In the light of dawn.

Underneath the oak tree
In ferns of wetted green
Young deer forage
After winter’s lean.

Newly budded antlers
Bucks sniff the air
Baby fawn staggers
Doe’s stand and stare

Bushy tails and whiskers
In pelts of brown and grey
Sleepy liquid eyes
Pierce the light of day.

Icy grip is over
Winter hasn’t won
Nature is revived
By the fingers of the sun.

E L L E ME N S H U N N E D

A fire broke out in her bones in her soul
and glittered like the black wall coal
diamond hard, the family traits
inherited her fathers hate

Riding in the old oak growth a saddle
supple her youth so bold
an old service revolver her skill
fast..a steady hold

Long tresses of midnight would fly in haste
"that girl's tainted" said those of the faith
but none would spare their pointed tongues
they'd seen the work with knife and gun
