At our age (OCTOBER 1)

We ought to be patriotic
We all obliged to be one.
despite our different tunes
we pledged to unites.
Peace, Love and Faith
we yelled and yelled
in strength and power.

We have what it takes
in assurance we called freedom.
Militarily the voyage began.
The solemnity song changed
as we crossed blood rivers

Yes that night 'twas ( Edit courtesy Eumol)

In the middle of the night
there was some noise
though very slight
my hair stood
on end with utter fright
who it was
that was my plight.

all alone stark naked
as I lay aright
it was in the middle
of last night

singularly alone
I was all by myself
on the wild plateau
starkness clouded the sight

Drifting

Let me rest awhile,
By the shore.
I am the driftwood,
Caressed by waves,

Held aloft
By gentle lap of tide.
Glowed by moonbeams,
Made white by sun,

Let me hide in troughs,
To wander so
Where dolphins play,
That they heal me.

Teach me to sing
A lullaby
Of Siren’s sound
Bring them to me

A gentle attraction
Only water gives
Teach me your ways
Deep thought,

Surging energy,
Subtle changes,
Flowing warmth,
Sparkling charms.

Antiquity Sculpture Wing

Chiseled by bare hands
Millenniums ago,
How they worshipped
The human form
In its apparent perfection
Knowing these statues
Will last to the last of men.
Their blood is
Frozen in marble,
Their eyes reflect
The whiteness of afterworld,
Their bodies in the rapture
Of stillness.

Equinox

I wasn't sure
what to make of this Equinox
till I remembered
to add a bit of fizz
to endure longer nights ahead

I added ice and soda
to energize my waning drink
tingling my nostrils, warming my heart
with flavors of winter, waiting in the wings
for fall to make its final call

the drama played out
in my cat's eyes
who almost spilled my drink

Sunlight,Moonlight

Somnolent air puffed clouds
meander across an azure sky
powered along by the spring breezes

Butterflies by the score flutter by
while each bird sings his melodic song

But his is only the daylight face of the moon
the other side is night

Ice crystals hung in a blackened sky
the odor of rotting wood and leaf mold
permeates the air

Two sides to every story
two sides to every coin

Where in between the burning rays of the sun
and the ice cold stares of the moon
lay the vast plains of unexplored grey

THIS SIDE OF THE RIVER

The river here flows slow and wide,
perhaps it's tired of running fast
through first mountains and then hills
to here far from its place of birth.

In a few places, here and there,
skim ice has formed in a still eddy
from the cold of fleeing night
as warm days will also flee
when winter calls.

Colors splash mid autumn trees
for chlorophyl has fled their leaves
leaving, for while, each tree's true color
until some cold rain sends them to the ground
to quilt the world in varied shades.

Baking

Rainy evening. Cold and empty house.
The Cat came from his outdoor wanders
Either because it is a bad weather even for him
Or maybe he just decided to check on me.
Anyway I am not listening to his lazy purrs.
I have decided to make a dessert.
I take
1 cup of almond flower,
3 table spoons of melted butter,
3 teaspoon of poppy seeds,
And 3 teaspoons of sugar.
I've added a pinch of salt and a few drops of vanilla extract.
The oven is warming to 350
While I am playing with the soft dough,
