My Heart Needs You

Day after day
I think about you
Night after night
I toss in my sleep
Thinking,
Wondering what I mean to you
When you are away
I cry myself to sleep
Lo and behold I
Silently weep
For my heart cries out
Your name
But deep inside I'm feeling
The same
As I've done when we first met
Baby there is so many mistakes
That I regret

Polar Vortex

Courting countries
shimmering cold
winter's pillow gold
smacked faces stiff
sea to sea
layered clothes
head to toe
icebox noses
rooftop snow
chimneys blow
hair stiff
white blitz
fingertips bitten
crippling cars
bourbon tripping
withered trees
ice pack rivers
animals quiver
brick prints
buff smoke
air chokes
honker down
ghost towns
black ice paths
Alps skiing
broken legs
sculptured casts
family blasts.

How Poets Can Utilize Social Media

Social media enables us to turn a distant audience into a close-knit community; to engage with others around the world in a way we have never been able to before. When one swims through the frequent tidal waves of politics, religion, and the other issues that divide us, it is also what brings us together. We’re able to come together and share creative works and ideas.

Spirit Flies

her body the bones of the earth
with a heart like an oozing slit

a goblin infusoria blur
smatter cautioning lips
on a golden head
and radiate a tumbling ludicrous halo
for a saintly gutted fish still making caviar
to feed blind kittens

a curdled soul warps the mind
the moon hiccups
a sky-rocket
and her kisses seal a destiny
with a trickle wetted mouth
and bulgy vagina; exultation of love
like bellowing lungs

flesh falls
spirit flies

Tempus Fugit

We often think about time
A something that comes and goes,
That medium we travel in, but
We know it does not come and go
Anywhere.

Time is as sea or wind or element
Without beginning or end,
Nobodaddy’s coo-coo clock
Which ticks as the swaying stars.

It is the angel of abstraction
That ends in imagination.
It is the force of gravity
That holds the living together,

As we soar high,
In our one and only flight
With wax wings
In the scorching sky.

Like a Hanger (For an Airplane)

Bears have a coat

Of luxurious fur.
Birds are covered in ornate

And soft and colorful plumage.
Elephants wear

Their own ivory jewelry.
But the outfits

Animals bring with them
Wherever they go,

We take on and off
Like airplanes.

What is necessary to us
Is a carry on.

Pen and paper,
Phones and computers,

Reading glasses
And diamond rings.

Our lives are,
For the most part,

Outside of ourselves.
While flowers take root,

Therapeutic Sea

Drifting on the lonely sea
the orange red sun chasing me
waves talking
swiftly and gooshy
something smelling fishy
floating on my back
trains of clouds stall
large and small
throwing shade at the sun's
yellow smiles

360 degrees blue sea
I thought to see a skyscraper in front of me
it was my mind playing tricks
on lonely me floating at sea

Gadzooks!

For some it takes
The barista getting their coffee wrong
For some it takes the flu
For some it would take nukes

To get them to finally say
Gadzooks

For some it takes
A fly’s little insistent buzz
For some it takes traffic
For some it would take a flood

To get them to say
Holy Mother of God

We all have a different
Threshold of pain

But the world is certainly
A complainer’s
refrain
