I"LL NEVER BE A SONNETEER (Nov. Contest)

I'll try to write a sonnet now
but I know I will not succeed
it will stumble like some drunk cow.
Writing sonnets make my brain bleed.

Maybe I'll write about true love
and how rare finding it can be,
a free gift sent from up above,
how it grows strong as an oak tree.

Or how the sun shines off her hair
on the porch on this clear spring day
as she naps in her rocking chair
and warm wind makes the poplars sway.

Maybe with a smidgeon of luck?..............
No, at writing sonnets I suck.

C#-tis Interruptus

All right, let's knock this assignment out
*looks at obsidian screen*
What a nice contrast with that neon green font
*cracks knuckles, and begins to type*

XmlDocument xml = new XmlDocument();

Dang fly, get out of here!
*lyrics of Monster by Mumford and Sons crosses mind*
Music! That's what I forgot! Let's fire up Spotify...
*sings along with song*
What was I doing? Right. Homework. OK

XmlDocument xml = new XmlDocument();
xml.LoadXml(str); // suppose that str string contains "<Names>...

Sheeple

They swarm all around me, I've given up the count
Far too many to be seen, too many, to surmount

It's a mob mentality, a furious, greater fail
A serious abnormality, a ship, that cannot sail

Moving so lethargically, pausing every stride
Overthinking typically, tourists with no guide

Way too needy, a snowflake in the heat
not mentally that speedy, fast, or ever fleet

What can be said of scion's, what they dream of, while asleep
Strive to be a lion, struggle not to be a sheep

Immortal

Memories are the imprints
everlasting ones
on the footprints
maybe now finger prints
in time

but all evade us
even does time
but memories take
much longer

these after all
none can erase
it’s an inevitable phase
today becomes a yesterday
and
tomorrow
we hope to play
with as a fresh today

then memories
more will form

how then would these impressions
be washed/wiped away
can you friend or foe or anyone
that ever say

Night

Night

Glorious moon, with your beautiful light,
I love the way you awaken the night
How Shadows all, lengthen and merge
And songs of the evening softly converge

Just as you wait for sunset’s last breath,
Darkness covers her slowly, devours her death

All the night long, you trace a line of infinite age
A path set beyond eons on a preordained stage

Hope

What am I?
A home with no hope.

Is this how I'm supposed to be?
I have children, but no one of them could think of me nor remember me.

They have all traveled to a far city
Without my concept,
Who will care for me?

I am a friend of the moon at night,
And an enemy to the sun by day.

Moroccan Memories (A Sexy Sonnet)

I recall Halcyon Days, hot nights in Morocco
With a nice girl I once met in the Souk;
Blasted by the warm winds of the Sirocco
I can still hear her loud screams when we'd fouk.

Etched in black

Our world is changing
a spider dangles from her tattered web
fervently trying to repair
the damage done by
constant barraging of
outside forces
restlessly without end

Total chaos
step easy use caution
shattered glass all around
shards of life
lay on the ground
flames licking
taunting into despair

Shadows abound
hollow sound
shallow beating
bleeding tears
what has become
nothing left but numb
