The Perfect Storm

Unleashed irrationality slashing

cutting

like a serrated knife
jammed through the spine
slowly sawing
on the very last nerve,
just awaiting the snap
before the fury of the storm
is released

raging

like a maddened beast

tortured

beyond endurance
until in desperation
it turns

lashing

like a metal studded whip
at the unprotected back of a child,

exploding

into a nova heat
of blindness
burning itself out
of existence
leaving
nothing
but
ashes

The perfect Storm

Rett, Liked this one from you. The heat, burning, and ashes seemed to go together, but for some reason I found myself thinking in the form of "scars" Great writing! ______________________________________________________ Income-tax forms should be more realistic by allowing the taxpayer to list "Uncle Sam" as a dependent Anonymous

First I have really written in a while. I think most of us have experienced those moments. Glad you enjoyed it. Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin

Hey Logic

Glad you caught the double play on nerve. My wife's favorite saying is "You're getting on my very last nerve". Thank you for the kind words. Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin

Dear Rett

This is so good. Sounds like many different ways of feeling like you're about to be murdered. Love the flow and very well written. Rosina xena465

Just one of those moments when something hits you like a migraine and has to be let out. Glad you liked it. Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin

I appreciate it. I don't normally write quite this dark, but once in a while...the darkness has to have an outlet. Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin

yes Rett

We can all write dark sometimes.. We need to let it out and poetry seems to be an easy way to do so. So please Rett, do not feel the need to write happy all the time, write exactly how you feel (: Writing is good for the soul, no matter what it's like. Danielle

this is very powerful

especially - 'lashing like a metal studded whip at the unprotected back of a child,,... burning itself out of existence leaving nothing but ashes' seems to me there is more to this write than a simple weather disturbance. thought provoking rett love judy http://www.strategicpublishinggroup.com/title/TwentyMyPrettyPonies.html

Hey Rett

Someone at Neopoet once said to me that its astonishing, to find their own emotional state so exactly described by the poetry of someone else, half a world away. This little piece of yours is exactly that to me right now. I despise the subject. I love the poem. Most excellent. It always amazes me when it happens to me also. I'll run across one and am going Holy macadamia nuts, that's how I feel right now! I appreciate it sir and hope you get to feeling better. *G* Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin
