What Man Is This?

An undisputed sovereign
of poetry and prose
has looked upon our efforts
from the tower of his nose
and raged in vocal thunder
of manikins and Gods
expecting us to tremble
at the unimagined odds
against his even seeing
this dream we take for real
yet all the while he's crying
and trying hard to feel

We gather round his glory
and try to ease again
that unrequited ego
which causes him such pain
but all he sees are acolytes
who clamor in despair
for something deep within his soul
he does not wish to share
and yet his heart remembers
those words he wrote before
that honored fallen heros
in poetry of war

I'm not going to claim I understand what this poem is saying. However there is one line that confuses me who clamor in despair, for something deep within his soul who is the he, and why are they clamoring in despair will revisit this one Me

I picture Zeus for some

I picture Zeus for some reason and also Weirdelf. Isn't that strange? Great poetry, I haven't read anything I liked that much in awhile. I think you meant unrequited, it's funny, but typos on Neo make me freak out thinking I've just come across a word I'm going to have to look up and figure out so I can figure out the poem. I hate typos, but love your poem. JRS

Thanks, Rosina!

This poem delved into some dark corners of mine that I seldom illuminate, and bared a few facts about my own outlook as a poet! Glad you enjoyed it!

Hey Lonnie,

No words out of place. I see every frustrated poet angered by fluffy vacuous sentiment praised as magnificent writing, and the inability of others to understand his own dark voice and muse that makes him reject their clamoring for more. Bloody excellent. Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

A man's man from afar living a lie, trying to feel whats is real

Got my vote, what man chooses to feel in this phony world of ours? It is lead by who and why? I can feel the relationships to the war, of poetry, of Life, of love. If only in ones own mind. What is real and what is make believe? For me it becomes stronger every day this war, this Man feels. Deep mighty deep and truth seems to always elude him/ me. Donnie/Sinbad Dream/ Nightmare?

Thank you so much!

That is high praise indeed and I very much appreciate it! I'm not sure how much ability I really do possess, but I've certainly been practicing long enough to have managed a bit!
