A year after
It's a new day
But it all feels wrong
It's like I woke up
But my eyes were gone
I'm looking everywhere
To stop the song
As I stood up
My feet said to me
I need to lay down
And go back to sleep
But I was already
In the floor up to my knees
When I stepped out
I was stabbed by light
His eyes diverted
The boy was polite
"I'm sorry for your loss
It's not your fault"
My eyes opened
To regain dull sight
The world around me
Didn't look quite right
The colors all seemed
To fade away
I gave time for
My eyes to adjust
I looked down and
Found familiar rust
I fell down proclaiming
The world to be unjust
All the neighbors
Were staring at me
"Go put some clothes on
Have some decency"
I went inside and cried
Myself to sleep
When I woke up
I was all alone
It didn't ring but
I picked up the phone
"If you can hear me please
Won't you come home?"
As I waited
In my misery
I think I felt her
Lay down next to me
I didn't look for fear
That I was wrong
So I asked her
"How have you been?
You know I missed you
Please don't leave again"
We fell asleep together
If only in my head
But it all feels wrong
It's like I woke up
But my eyes were gone
I'm looking everywhere
To stop the song
As I stood up
My feet said to me
I need to lay down
And go back to sleep
But I was already
In the floor up to my knees
When I stepped out
I was stabbed by light

We fell asleep together
If only in my head
