A VERMONT MORNING --revised
A Vermont morning
[In memory of my dear friends Dorothy and Leo ]
I put on my running shoes
And flew
On wings
I did not feel the wet leaves
Under a cold mist
Hugging the narrow hill
The sun had not yet broken through
And
I flew
Across fields of morning dew
Passing lights warming window panes
One by one.
I was not alone
Apples baking in cinnamon
Butter on a grill
The smells of home
I knew
I could live forever
In this womb
Until…
