THE FALL INTO MADNESS

THE FALL INTO MADNESS

The signs are there
But
The mind does not yet perceive
The insidious degeneration
Festering its own insanity
Until
The serpent's  sting
Strikes with unspeakable vengeance
And then
There is a  rapid fall into madness.
The Soul begs release
From the agony
Of fear and confusion
And
Dread.
I know
I’ve seen it so
This dementia
An obscenity inflicted on humankind
An abomination of Creation
The irony of God’s love and affection
Peace only in the sleep of death.

A seized thought so filled with fire

A seized thought so filled with fire so short yet containing the whole. This rhythm is so fine, one enjoys the words and their flow apart from the meaning; then the meaning bleeds through and fills us with its message, which is so strong, so fierce, so grippingly soulful that it moves us so. Dear Joe, dear Longobardolino. Your Annuccia.

Madness, insanity, a realm

Madness, insanity, a realm many stray into and are lost.... I like the way you have set out the poem, makes for an even more interesting read. The saying goes that if you think you are mad your not, if you think you arn't you are lol, a bit of adness is healthy i think vicki

J.B. Longo-GeremiaYes. I saw

J.B. Longo-Geremia Yes. I saw my mm de of Parkinsonian dementia; took care of her at home. I was diagnosed with a form of hereditary Parkinsonism 2 years after she passed at home. Fortunately-- hopefully-- i am beig medicated in time to prevent the repetition of a family history[ my mom's 2 brothers, as well]. My sister and brother are fine. Thanks, Joe

Life obliterates us.

Life obliterates us. Period. It chooses how and when. In the meantime, POETRY!!! Keep on keeping on, Joe... and don't let that bastard illness get you down for too long. My dad had it at the end of his life along with emphysema (which killed him). And of course, you're familiar with Michael J. Fox. Bless his soul. Bless you. ~A
