Youth and Driving

Constant crashes all around town

A daily reminder to just slow down
Firetrucks blaring all night and day,A car flashes by speeding on it's way.
Distractions of noise, a radio is blaringBad enough drivers, show no more caring.Skidding cars and  running lights,Constantly lights flashing the red and white.
Caution ahead, get out and  go helpAssess the situation, it could of been yourself.Speeding, no seat belts, drinking and driving
No compassion for others, and safely arriving
.
Many a mistake a driver makes
Not being alert, and now it's too late
Your misguided judgments racing on the road,Has taken a life only 15 years old

Slow down your life, slow down your car,Remember her, she was loved like a beautiful star.
You took your mom's key, not wise enough to drive,
For your actions that night, silenced an innocent life
Speeding up does only one thingNot getting there any faster, what can that  bring
Your car is a weapon, mass destruction it isFor you've made bad choices, but you get to still live
You took Mom's keys without a thoughtHad not enough experience for you, has it taught
Sweet little girl who cheered her heart outCan no longer sing and no longer shout

Remembrance of this life, this one sweet loving girlWith all the smiles and her beautiful curlsYour at rest our Rachel,  your life not in vainFor speeding in a car is just so insane.

“Your misguided judgments

"Your misguided judgments for racing the road, has taken a life only 15 years old." That's really powerful

Very nice. A excellent

Very nice. A excellent tribute. My once monthly local newspaper just came out with this months front page. "Local teen losses her life" Tragic. Some dude tried to pass her and ran her and her brother off the road on their way to school. She died, her brother injured, a family tore up. And they had to track the dude down, he didn't even stop. They are also today having a memorial service for the 6th officer shooting death in WA, since halloween. Sad. Tragic. Makes great poetry, but such pain in so many lives. Julie D.D.

Reflections and thoughts

Thank you so much girl for the comment and yes to have someone to hit someone and take off is just totally insane. Did they find the guy who took off? Such saddness to lose anyone at the hands of a person and their vehicle. The story of Rachel her and her three girlfriends needed a ride and this football player from the same high school got his mom's keys(she allowed him to use her car and he only had his restricted for 1 month) anyhow him and two other football guys where in the car, this small car. No one had seatbelts on and Rachel was holding on to one boy as the car was flipping and then the force of the hit against the tree caused her to get ejected through the window. I have to stop for a minute here because my heart is still saddened by this and it was two years ago September. Anyhow she passed and the other kids got injured and the driver was racing along side his friend and when he came across a chicane in the road I read he bumped the other guys car and then the rolling hit the fence into the tree right in front of the church. There is a memorial there and let me tell you it was the most wrenching thing I ever went through with my son. If you look it up it's under Rachel Carreras and she has a legacy page. I can not tell you the effect it had on me in that parlor with all the teenagers, it was so bad for her mom and her little sister, I mean nothing no jail time or anything will ever replace this lovely carebear girls life. She was a shining young girl full of love and sunshine. She was a carebear girl...a beacon of hope and smiles all the time. Joey still has his carebear stocking she gave him in sixth grade for his 15th birthday.... I debated to write anything about this but as I sat here last night and started to write of the constant noise of ambulances and firetrucks up a main street from me..I started to write about the constant noise and it turned into this poem. Thank you all for allowing me to share it and if this poem in any way upsets you for the loss of anyone so dear to you, from any type of car accident I shall apologize and know that prayers also go out to you and your family also. Sincerely Ms Mona aka magics02 Much love

Thank you for the story

Thank you for the story follow up Ms Mona, I always like hearing what inspired a piece. Espeacialy one so obviously personal. When the telling doesn't cause more pain. And yes, I do believe they did catch the guy that took off in my story. Thank you again. Julie D.D.
