When The World Was Flat

Life was easier when the world was flat;
but there was a question about Boer’s cat.
Mustn’t piss off the gods by nonstop asking—
but humans were made for multi-tasking.

Was the creature alive or was he dead?
He’s both dead and alive the smart men said.
Open the box and we’ll know the answer—
but that will change the question, sure censure.

As a man will do he searched for the edge,
coming closer and closer to the ledge.
Can't  recognize danger when we see it,
when come the ends of the earth, use our wit.

Universe expanse from point of a pin—
Why can’t the sage explain original sin?
Let’s time travel far away to the past;
won’t get back here, but t’ will be such a blast.

Relish a return to the good old days
to see if we can but undo the maze?
Fast forward to the end of time beknown
to see how much history we have blown.

Ego by its nature demands control;
innocent pink heart be soon black as coal.
Seduced by a curvaceous universe,
for our arrogance who will reimburse?

When we draw ever close, remain too blithe,
time warps may catch us in our pride of life.
On the event horizon we’ll make no mark,
sucked through a black hole the size of a quark.

Thank you, breakingLogic

What do you like to be called? I shall settle for Logic if you don't tell me different. I'm glad you enjoyed the science. I had just finished listning to some awesome physics lectures on CD. The science/science fiction stuff always fascinates me. I cannot fathom the idea of being sucked into a black hole---but oh, the images. What/who/when/why is in there? Deelilah

How intriging. If nobody has

How intriging. If nobody has told you lately how your writing has grown, just let me say it. That was great. In a few places it felt like you were slightly reaching. But the over all effect was that you grabbed it by the balls. Great read. I will try to catch some of what I missed lately, I see I have definitly been missing stuff, but it will take me awhile. LOL Julie D.D.

Hi Julie

So nice to see you here. I love your comment. Grabbed it by the balls, did I? Great when you show up with straight on 'grab it by the balls' critique. See you again soon. And thanks. Deelilah

Thanks for the links. I looked them up and downloaded your friend's article which I'm sure you know approaches 300 pages. Sounds juicy. But double OOPS! I got the cat's name wrong---it was Schroedinger's cat. Wonder what that's going to do to my nice neat 10 beat line. Plus I mispelled Bohr. Good grief. I'll try to not let that failure go to my heart. I see that was from the university in Charlottsville, VA. Are you there? I have a nephew there. He's a newscaster on the TV station from Richmond. Anyway, thanks for the read and the references. I appreciate it. Yours, Dee

Dee,

what a mixed bag of interesting thoughts! Enjoyed especially: Universe expanse from point of a pin— Why can’t the sage explain original sin? Let’s time travel far away to the past; won’t get back here, but t’ will be such a blast. Relish a return to the good old days to see if we can but undo the maze? Fast forward to the end of time beknown to see how much history we have blown. Awesome write! Yours, ~Nina P.S. Ever read the discworld novels? Terry Pratchett describes it thus: "The world rides through space on the back of a turtle. (...) The idea has been lying in the lumber rooms of legend for centuries. All I had to do was grab it and run away before the alarms went off."

Hi Nina

Thanks for the read and vote of confidence. As you can see by my reply to Kalaishana, I have some work to do. Damn, I wish that cat had belonged to Bohr (Boer). Anyway, it was fun and I got the idea across, aparently. I appreciate your kind words. Yes, I believe I have heard of the works your talking about---have not read, however. Maybe I'll give it a go. Yours, Deelilah
