OUT OF EGYPT--newly formatted

OUT OF EGYPT

[For my cousin Mohammed Omar]

 Saharah’s winds softly blow
Through the narrow streets of Cairo.
The blue waters of the Mediterranean  Sea
Whisper gently  on Egypt’s shore.
Now
A  strange shadow  falls
Over garden roofs and orange  groves.
Out of Egypt you did come
Some
One and thirty years ago
The sweet smell of jasmine
Lingering always in your soul
Stronger still
As you  go the way
We all go. You are your father’s son
I know
I remember how you told me so.
Soon it will be time.
Take his hand
My cousin
My friend
And
Together you and he will walk again
Through the narrow streets of Cairo
As Saharah’s winds gently blow
Out of Egypt…

Darling Longo, I so adore

Darling Longo, I so adore your poems.... and I know it's a formatting issue, but it sure as hell detracts from your delicious poetry. Love, Anna p.s. I hadn't known to spell Saharah with an h. I love your family. "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

Almost. There is what, 3

Almost. There is what, 3 spaces between each paragraph? Only one is necessary, no? I think it's time we addressed formatting issues with the AEC. Love, Anna "...when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it." ~ Buddha

J.B. Longo-GeremiaGave it

J.B. Longo-Geremia Gave it another shot. Yes, ,we need to address this issue. I also have trouble deleting some of what I wrote-- it is hit and miss. The site seems very slow, and, at times. I cannot get in.

Dear Longo

A wonderful tribute for your cousin, it was a wee sad. But as usual, you put a piece of your heart in this for us all to share. Love Lyz, XX

A gift indeed! Longobardolino mio.

The knowing gives potency to my comment, the admiration of one's from other places who showing their kindness and love gain access to our hearts and make the writing of such a poem possible. "The blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea Whisper gently on Egypt’s shore." The blue waters and their whispers, they soothe through the rest of the poem. And all the perfumes of fruits, and exotic sun-warmed thoughts too, permeate the atmosphere and give the last rites the colours they no longer possess, as they walk into the essences of time. Your Annuccia

I add your poem here too!!

Showing the you that is you:- "Not just a memory" Longo-Joe There are those souls so clear and sweet They hurt so easily You see it in their eyes There are those souls so innocent We need to step gently Before we speak  No cruelty . No lies. No trickery There are those who love so genuinely We need to hold them tenderly There are those we lose too soon We need to hold them in every breath More than just a passing memory In Life In death. *************** my comment then:- Oh just so beautiful:- You reach an arc that spans the world with love and understanding, an essence of what godly sages spread, you proclaim such noble values we just stand in awe of it, and nod at the manner you say so succinctly what love really is. The rythm, the words, the poem, described so well that we are left totally absorbed in the silence it brings, a silence pregnant with meaning. A most beautiful poem, the most beautiful poem I have ever read, Longobardolino. Annuccia.
