A MADDENING SILENCE

A MADDENING SILENCE

I miss your smile

And your sad eyes

That far away look into time

They say  now is mine.

I knew the memories that haunted you

I lived them  too.

I miss the stories you used tell.

Ghosts and witchery

Old world tales.

I miss those sad songs of old

That made you cry

From longing and melancholy

For  the years that cruelly flew by.

I pray you are in peace somewhere

Time has passed and I too am almost there.

A hard journey this has been

No one left to see me through.

And

I don’t hear you anymore.

You never talk to me

As before.

A maddening silence

Echoes my calls.

An empty and lonely  place

This Eternity must be.

I look to the One and Only One

But

Meaningless whisperings

 Turn  my  heart to stone..

No faith  to hold .

No Spirit

No  Soul

Where has all the love gone

Mamma

Did that too die with all of you.

Beautifully done, Sir!

Imaginative imagery, provocative poetics, and superb content all serve to make this a very special poem indeed! Great job!

Love never dies 'little Joe'

Its there always. It may change in character but if expressed sincerely it cannot die. Your mother's love is still there in you, the songs you can still hear, the stories are part of you too. To feel this silence is self torture I believe and is useless. But then this is a poem, or tale too, and that's what we have to speak of here and as such it is great stuff, containing such poignant thoughts that it moves us and you make me miss my own mother and father by writing this. Its therefore strongly expressed. Love to you from Annuccia

J.B. Longo-GeremiaI respect

J.B. Longo-Geremia I respect you, Annuccia, for the truth you always say and tell. Rare quality. Alway be yourself! See how you helped me make a "poem" better? And your perceptions are right on the mark. I miss all who are gone. Il tuo Longobardolino

Dearest Longo

A very sad one this is and I feel the same as I am an only child and I had only her. I have my own husband and kids now but those feelings are mine as well. I love this and I share a tear with you. Thank you, love to you and yours. XX

Il mio Longobardolino,

You can still impress in us the shapes of memory those precious forms that fill our minds with love, with that understanding of connection, relationship, that fills our days when we are little, and if lucky, becomes a bond, a trust, an ever present hand to help and guide, be guided too, in return as each their ages merge in their known lives to become a whole, a family of fates and feelings culminating in the greatest feeling of grace that life lived can embrace. Be glad you, Longobardolino, found that love, memories, now, which unbreakable dominate your 'soul', your troubles your all, and does your readers now enthral. Annuccia
