LIKE A FLAME

LIKE A FLAME

Like a flame fighting the winds
Of Nature’s fury
Flickering in its coming mortality
And so longing to survive
My soul falters in its  passion
To stay alive
In a body frail and languishing .
The only life it has known
Afraid to face Eternity alone
I feel my flesh
My body fires with desire
And I endure not to end.
To go on in this place
Stopping Time
My Spirit clinging to its space
Of pain and pleasure.
Never  to let go.
But
We win our battles
And  lose.some
The war will end.
One day soon
So it is
I will have to give in
Like a flame dying in the wind.

You take my breath away.

Dear Longobardolino mio, You take my breath away. This is the most passionate poem you have written, that I know of! It is intense, intensely alive, bearing within it the candle of life's light blazing. "Like a flame fighting the winds Of Nature’s fury" And the candle of life's dwindling to a puff of wind. I was tossed and turned by the furious winds, and lulled peacefully by their dying breath. Your Annuccia

A Familiar Plea

It is each of our destinies to face death. No matter how much we fight it, it will always win. Your plea is known to many in this poetic verse.
