FAMILY

FAMILY Soulful eyes and a tender smile A child Who did see From earliest recollections His own reality. Did you know. Silent stares I understood  the world From the outside looking in. Quiet wonderings Broken wishes within. Did you know. Did you see the thousand unkindnesses Inflicted on me. Mindless innocence And Harmless intent. That was your way. A strange love This. Famiy.

This one really hits home! Talk about your dysfunctional families! I liked everything about this piece and can offer no helpful criticizm. I think the poem is perfect as it is. Always, Cat

Longo...

I too found this to be very good, you continue to impress the site with your talents... the only thing I found was obviously an oversight... the misspelling of Family at the end... I read this as being of a larger scale than immediate family, don't know if that is what you intended or not... but the world's view of us is often tainted with lack of perceptions and the not knowing what we've been through to get us here or there... enjoyed the read sir! Indeed. Every family is

Indeed. Every family is dysfunctional in one or another way. The family of man is exponentially dysfunctional. ~A However, we are all doing the best we can with what we know, if we knew better, we'd do better, eh? "There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic." Anais Nin

Understanding a child

We so often underestimate the intelligence of the child, and 'they' certainly did in my childhood, nowadays there is pehaps more understanding and certainly more communication between adults and children leading to a better atmosphere for all. In some cases this understanding has gone too far the other way and the children can be sen to terrorise their parnents, its all a matter of balance, give and take, as in the best marriages, that is the case too. We have a lot to learn and the first subject to be taught at school should not be maths and etc, but EMPATHY and social behaviour in general, then this world would be a better place to live in for all of us. Unjust ignorance can lead to so many misunderstandings and prejudices and maim a childs self esteem for life, if he is weak; but here you were strong beneath the hurt, in your own mind, and your abilities developed in spite of the hinderings, Longo and you stubbornly held your head up in spite of the abuse of your intelligence. Now you reign supreme, with so many talents. Not least of all that of writing poetry that tells, that moves, that makes us think twice, that has a quality we admire. Your Annuccia. So go forth with your head held high, even if it is only metaphorically possible to acheive. P.S. Will they see this? When will you see this as I know your computer is out of order at the moment?
