BLINDED BY THE SERPENT'S STING
BLINDED BY THE SERPENT’S STINGBorrowed is this flesh of mine
Only for a short time
Feeling sunny breezy days
Wrapped with another in moonlit dreams
Quiet awakenings through the years.
Laughter love, pain and tears.
Slowly and suddenly
So it seems
The fire inside begins to die.
Our eyes fade into shadows cold
An icy chill stuns our soul.
Fantasy and imagination
Blissful ignorance
Of children’s games
Frozen now in memory
Give way to vile reality.
Time to leave all behind
Blinded by the serpent’s sting
We look ahead but cannot see
Where we are going
And what we are to be.
Only for a short time
Feeling sunny breezy days
Wrapped with another in moonlit dreams
Quiet awakenings through the years.
Laughter love, pain and tears.
Slowly and suddenly
So it seems
The fire inside begins to die.
Our eyes fade into shadows cold
An icy chill stuns our soul.
Fantasy and imagination
Blissful ignorance
Of children’s games
Frozen now in memory
Give way to vile reality.
Time to leave all behind
Blinded by the serpent’s sting
We look ahead but cannot see
Where we are going
And what we are to be.
