ONCE I WAS - revised

ONCE I WAS…

 Once
I was the lyrics of someone’s song
The magic that made dreams
I   was fantasy and imagination
I was ecstasy
The passion of my heredity.
The Spirit in another’s soul.
But nothing is forever
That’s the nature of this world
A temporary condition
A brief state of mind
Blind to the reality
To who we really are.
Tears of a dying star.
A momentary magnificence of Creation.
Lost in our own being.
Floating in the confusion of irony.
Never understanding.
Playing to the last scene.
No applause.
A murmur of whispers barely heard.
Melting into  the velvet shadows
Of  our own mystery.
