Je n'ai pas peur

of the dark or of being alone, and that is not because I have a guru or a religious personage to turn to, but just because I exist at all. To exist is enough. I was not afraid of the dark when having visited some friends in the valley in Telemark I had to come up to my unlit house in the dark, I had imbibed some home-made spirit !! So I told my feet to remember the way up through the pitch black wood on the steep little roe deer track, they did, I could only make out the vague bark of the one birch tree on the way up, and had to go right by it, then I looked up at the sky and I have NEVER seen such brilliant stars in the heavens before, quite wonderful.
