Tale Uv De T'underer
Tale Uv De T'underer
Dere's a tale down in de sout-lands
Uv a creature dat roam de storm,
Known ta each and ev'ry person
From de day dat dey are born,
And de Bayou-people, dey tremble at de name!
Dey say dat when de Crook-flash
Walks acrost de storm-dark skies,
You can feel de swamps a-shakin',
You can hear de monster's cries,
And De T'underer, it begin ta prowl!
Sum say de tall ole Cypress trees
Be just like so much grass,
When De T'underer begins it's walk
Acrost dat swampy morass,
And de Bayou-people, dey tremble at de t'ought!
Uders say dose dat seen it,
Dey don' live ta tell no tale,
But you can no fail ta hear it
When de storm winds begin ta wail,
And De T'underer, it begin ta walk!
Dey say dat when de Crook-flash
Walks across de storm-dark skies,
You can hear de monster stalking
And hear de victims cries,
And de Bayou people, dey tremble in de storm!
For those who had trouble reading this. It is written in the old Cajun Patois of Louisianna. When I was in my teens I lived there for awhile and used to love to listen to the old Cajun men tell their tales of the swamps and bayous. In case you can't figure it out. Crook-Flash is lightning.
Respectfully,
Rett
