PER MARI.....

Reflections

Per mari….

[Through seas: dedicated to all those who tried to find a better way]

On ships through many seas

I sail seeking my destiny

Searching for a better way

Leaving all I know and love

Behind

Now I say good bye

Never to return again

To the ends

Of this earth I will go

Alone with melancholy in my soul

And

Alone on ships through these seas

I will die

you take

a well worn concept, that of getting away and give it fresh legs. A little redundant by the second half, it feels. I do love the spitting staccato effect (thanks, Professor!) that you utilize by shortening your lines. Mark W.

J.B. Longo-GeremiaThanks. I

J.B. Longo-Geremia Thanks. I was just pondering today on the courage of those men who left everything behind in Italy-- my gandfathers for example-- to seek their destiny in new lands , never to see their families or the hills of the Appennines ever again. The redundancy is a refrain, :) Grazie tante ! Joe

P.S.

J.B. Longo-Geremia I elimiinated the redundant line, You are right. IT didn't work as a refrain either. joe

No you won't

Die alone, as we all here are with you in the poetic spirit, but I think you are referring to some literary figure here, are you. I am not so up in what one should read!! I read what i wanted as I have no need to impress anyone with my knowledge. Is it some ref.? If this is not the case and you feel like that I am sad for you. I left England for Norway when I was 32 yrs old and I was not lonely, nor melacholy I was elated at my freedom. as to wishing anyone to mourn for me, li am not worried to be not-no thing- forgotten. “ann must fly.” we all

"ann must fly." we all must fly...alone... reminds me of a beautiful song: White bird ~ It's a Beautiful Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cin0QzuEss Lyrics: White Bird In a golden cage On a winter's day In the rain White bird In a golden cage Alone The leaves blow Cross the long black road To the darkened skies In its rage But the white bird Just sits in her cage Unknown. White bird must fly Or she will die White bird Dreams of the aspen tree With their dying leaves Turning gold But the white bird Just sits in her cage Growing old. White bird must fly Or she will die White bird must fly Or she will die The sunsets come The sunsets go The clouds Float by And The Earth Turns slow And the Young Birds Eyes Do always Glow And She must fly She must fly She must fly White bird In a golden cage On a winter's day In the rain White bird In a golden cage Alone White bird must fly Or she will die White bird must fly Or she will die White bird must fly Or she will die White bird must fly Much love.
