Suffering and understanding

I'm afraid there is a cause and effect connection between these two conditions. I have learnt that from experience. So I agree with your theory, but I would prefer to see a tangible example in your poem. Best Wishes, Robert.

J.B. Longo-GeremiaThank you,

J.B. Longo-Geremia Thank you, Robert , However, for me "tangible" does not produce poetry which is interpretive, but prose whic is explicative. I prefer the reader use his/her own experience to "connect" with the "message." The word COMPASSION comes from the Latin which means "To suffer along with", hence better understanding of "others." Anyway... :) joe

Compassion

Compassion is a wonderful sentiment and you have enriched my understanding of the word. I studied Latin for several years at my first school (with an old, alcoholic teacher who would poke us with his cane if we forgot our conjugations or declensions) but I could never really understand a sentence from start to finish I'm afraid. In English words derived from Latin tend to sound a little abstract and academic, and have often lost their original meaning or power, which is why I try to avoid them, even though I realize that's practically impossible. Best Wishes, Robert.
