Tribute to a Friend

Preface: Once in a great while a person comes along that touches someone's life. A person whose will and spirit does not give up, but continues to reach in spite of hardships and obstacles. This poem is about such a person that I have been privileged to meet, if only through the medium of poetry.

Tribute to a Friend

Poetry with a tear or smile
Sad or happy is done in style
Pain and tragedy she casts off
With poetry that lifts spirits aloft

She battles onward and upward
A spirit that won’t be denied
Through obstacles all around her
She never slows her stride

You read her words with laughter
Or tears come to your eyes
You see a springtime meadow
Beneath a golden sunrise

Beauty and pain and feeling
Is crafted with loving care
Presented on a silver platter
For everyone to share

Pay attention to her words
The beauty of her insights
Feel the spirit that’s instilled
In every word Barbara Writes

I find there are many here who inspire me. Poetry seems to know no boundaries and if we look around, we find many people who touch hearts and spirits in one way or another. This is just one of those times when someone has garnered my whole hearted respect. that is no light compliment Ian just gave you

and I agree completely. Except its the politicians who advocate gun ownership who should be shot. Lets start this on another page, a forum perhaps, but since the massive gun buy-back after the the Tasmanian massacre gun death has gone down by 75% in Australia. Is it guns or Americans who who should not own them? cheers, Jess

Of all the compliments ever gotten by anyone on a poem or to the person it is about, that has to be a rank of number one. A truer statement has never been spoken. "To have but one friend on this journey that shares with you, is a good life in itself." Truly beautiful statement and such truth cannot be disputed.
