Requiem for Edgewise

Requiem for Edgewise
(Written for a site I used to be at)

A place for poets to gather and share
Friendships and respect for the other
Thoughts and dreams for all to share
Words that flowed from sister to brother

Laughter and caring shared like water
Happiness and sorrow, laughter and tears
A supporting arm on which to lean
Comfort to quiet the deepest fears

Then they came with knives of hate
Spouting their foulness with no regard
Free speech they cried when asked to calm
No freedom allowed the hapless bard

They ripped and tore and cut and maimed
Till in tatters lay the the precious jewel
Filth and hate they spew with ease/
With barbed words, they stabbed so cruel

No clean death lies for its head
In torment it writhes in burning sun
The love has gone and the victor laughs
One more bastion of kindness undone

Easy janice

Not leaving here. This was long ago at another site that was a great place till it was destroyed. I'm just going for a visit with my brother IF my doctor allows. Was supposed to leave today but got postponed. I'm still here. Still love this place and the people. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Thank Tom

I appreciate the sentiment. I'll let you know if I ever leave, but I like this place more than anyplace I have been since Edgewise. It was destroyed by a couple of groups that kept invading and fighting with each other and everyone. Shortly after I and the other regulars left it folded because of those two groups. What was unique about it also was several single people after several years of talking ended up meeting and getting married and the majority are still happily married. This place is almost as good a place on the whole. Whenever you get such a large group of diverse people there is always a little friction. *LOL* Especially with poets. I second Tom

and Janice. Was very scared myself! Travel safe, my friend. We'll miss you while you're away. ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"When there's no good answers, and no new questions. Another personal disaster, there's nowhere to go but down..." - Gin Blossoms

Good write Rett

ya scared me too, don't do that. To much stress right now has me jumpy. Stick around for a while, sit back, have a root beer, and enjoy the company.

Thanks Patty

I was not meaning to scare anyone. It was close to the time I left that site and it closed so I just wanted to recognize it. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach. Salty, gritty, somewhat fishy and at other times, downright crabby" Rett: 2008

bit close to realty here

I`m a newcomer here, Taffy come lately (taffy a name we Welsh are known by here)however the sentiment is all too clear. Do you fear the worst here? surely not, there are one or two cheeky fellows but words are words and if they are not worth responding too, then do not puff the spark with the bellows of your wisdom. Anyway way too many humans here and thats just after a short stint here. Good luck with your trip, hope all goes well.

Andy, I don't fear it happening

Things have actually improved since I came. People seem to be getting more tolerant of others for some reason which is good. Any place public or internet will have a few that swim against the current. It's to be expected. If everyone was the same it would get boring extremely fast. *LOL* Be glad when I can actually read one of your poems. Respectfully, Rett: "Life is like a beach.
