Rosie at the Café

Rosie at the Café

In a little café, out San Antonio way
I was drinking tequila like water.
Rosie was her name; she's not to blame
I didn't act like I aughtta.
My head was a-spin; I said with a grin
Let's dance the horizontal mamba.
She wasn't impressed; became quite distressed
When I kept insisting we samba.

She walked away; had no words to say
But I didn't have time to miss her.
Her honor to defend; sent her boyfriend
He didn't look very pleased.
I took me a drink; gave him a wink
Then I stood and clobbered him one.
As he hit the floor I ran for the door
Never argue with the wrong end of a gun.

I may have been rude; I may have been crude
Maybe even drunk as can be,
But a man with a gun just ain't any fun,
It could hurt someone like me.
Such a pretty young miss; I couldn't resist
So I kissed her as I ran out.
She winked one eye and said with a sigh
"Too bad you're such a damn lout!"

Have you been listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimme Three Steps" again? LOL! This was quite entertaining. Was this the same girl from Wally world?? LMAO! ~Jess K. ---------------------------------------------------- -"It is better to be thought of a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt..." - Mark Twain

*LOL*

I could be or maybe in my wild younger days I did something like this. You decide. *evil grin* Hmmmm, she did look a bit familiar. *LMAO* Respectfully, Rett: "If a fool and his money are soon parted, what does that say about the government bailout?" Rett

Very entertaining

I enjoyed the suspense this started out with. Reading every word being captivated by how it would end. Another one of your great one. One thought about your ending. I am kinda lost to what the last line means. other than that it was a good read all the way through. Respectfully Yours, Barbara

Thanks Barbara, that last line

Means she thought I was a lout, a cad, a not nice person, but I was a good kisser. *G* She could have fallen for me if I hadn't been such a jerk. *LOL* Glad you enjoyed it. Respectfully, Rett: "If a fool and his money are soon parted, what does that say about the government bailout?" Rett

Entertaining indeed

I did enjoy this one with its playful, gentle lilt. Had me hooked from the first line, waiting to see how it concluded. Leonard

Hi Rett...

loved your humorous story... excellent flow to it... the word lout seemed a bit out of speech with the rest of the poem to me... making it seem a forced rhyme... it is most likely just me... enjoyed the story very much... had me laughing... Richard

Thank you Richard

I am glad you got a laugh out of it. I appreciate the the critique also. I will give it some thought about lout. Respectfully, Rett: "If a fool and his money are soon parted, what does that say about the government bailout?" Rett

Good little romp of a poem

I loved the water, aughtta and mamba, samba pairings. The rhythm moved it along just like I can picture your exit, swiftly.

Tequila can make a person do strange things, but I am glad that you got a laugh out of it. As for the joking comment about married, I am very very married. 33 years and counting. Even in joking I am flattered and I thank you. Be well my friend. Respectfully, Rett: "If a fool and his money are soon parted, what does that say about the government bailout?" Rett
