The Day of 9-11
We will never know the horror
Suffered by the souls that were
Sacrificed on that day of 9-11
They did not know what had
Happened. The confusion only
Added to their terror
Primeval fear and the human will
To live, drove them
Running, stumbling, falling
Down the many stairs
Running for their lives
Choking back the smoke
Choking back their cries
What last thoughts ripped
Through their hearts and minds
The ones who could not get out
The ones who had to jump
The most pitiful of them all
They finally jumped from the flames behind
Knowing that all hope had fled
They threw themselves upon the altar
Oh, my God! I could not believe
As I watched their bodies, still alive
Fall to the unforgiving ground, so far below
were they silent, did they pray
No one heard, we'll never know
Death so painful, fear so raw
Their bodies dead, did their souls
Then get up and run
Did the angels cry, did the heavens open
Did our God remove His hand, as He
Turned His face away
Suffered by the souls that were
Sacrificed on that day of 9-11
They did not know what had
Happened. The confusion only
Added to their terror
Primeval fear and the human will
To live, drove them
Running, stumbling, falling
Down the many stairs
Running for their lives
Choking back the smoke
Choking back their cries
What last thoughts ripped
Through their hearts and minds
The ones who could not get out
The ones who had to jump
The most pitiful of them all
They finally jumped from the flames behind
Knowing that all hope had fled
They threw themselves upon the altar
Oh, my God! I could not believe
As I watched their bodies, still alive
Fall to the unforgiving ground, so far below
were they silent, did they pray
No one heard, we'll never know
Death so painful, fear so raw
Their bodies dead, did their souls
Then get up and run
Did the angels cry, did the heavens open
Did our God remove His hand, as He
Turned His face away
