Three-Sixty-Four
Three-Sixty-Four
If I had the power,
if I knew of a way,
I’d go back to August
and remove just one day.
The days would now number
only three-sixty-four,
no calendar would resemble
any one from before.
You’ll have to reschedule
all of your plans,
that you made for the 7th,
it’s out of your hands.
The new moon would have to wait
a day to appear,
and Christmas may fall on
the same day as last year.
We should all treat this day
like a 13th floor,
no light for that number
above the elevator door.
If this date was your birthday,
some significant time,
please observe it as if
it fell on February 29.
‘Cause if I had the power,
if I knew of a way,
I’d go back to August,
and erase that one day.
