Graves

Graves

While looking out the window
At dreams that can't come true,
I see someone staring back,
Looking just as blue.

While riding through the valley
Lost in deep despair,
I see another's shadow
Riding over there.

Treading on the dead-white bones
Of hope beneath my feet,
I meet a long forgotten man
Wrapped in sorrow's sheet.

Of all the hopes and plans I left
Buried in the past,
I find the graves are crowded with
Other's that I passed.

With the trying times everyone is going through, I thought I would repost this to remind people that
no matter how bad off we may be. there are others in worse shape. Michael's poem I read day before yesterday
reminded me of this, so I tip my hat to you Michael.

Love the way this poem moves

How true - for every problem we face, there is someone out there with problems much more serious than ours. I love the last stanza. cheers ... leonard

Thank you sir, you got it in one! Everytime I start to have a pity party I see someone worse off. Rett: The perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the wind is blowing, the birds are singing and the lawnmower is broken. "James Dent"

First off: "While looking out the window At dreams that can’t come true" - awesome line. I didn't read it at first in the context that Leonard did - I took it as a literal thing, and it came out nice and spooky! Leonard's interpretations made it real, and quite sad. I love it when you can get completely different responses... shows that it's a good work! ~Jess K. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ "Everyone needs to believe in something. Thanks a lot. Leonard got it in one. The first part is pitying myself and then realizing no matter how bad I feel someone feels worse. I am glad you enjoyed it. Great write, as always. I like the line about dreams that can't come true, all the people we were supposed to meet and didn't. Our time is so short, distractions in the way Life is what happens when your plans go awry. Patty

Thank you. Yes, so many distractions along the way. You know, that is a good premise for a poem. So many distractions along the way. You should expand on that. *S* Rett: The perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the wind is blowing, the birds are singing and the lawnmower is broken. "James Dent"

Its okay to look into a grave Just dont fall in !

curious of course great poem I go into the great spin out pity party big time Addictions though played a part big time too am not pursuing that a whole week poison free feels damn weird just stay in the today greatest old grips are looking back its easy and even more to get stuck stuck I was for years just deleted years of crap from people I cant pretend are my "freinds" anymore just people that I thought made my Facebook Gmail look decorated bah Just keep family in there now and some close freinds felt so good to hit the delete key on it all As If I was going to die by letting that all just blink out of sight I have to thank Nature or the God or Creator more pay more kindness to my own family here My own child rather then the fakirs maybe work on myself too and write some more valueable poetry with a clearer head and heart Didnt get around to commenting on it till now!!!
