The Price
The Price
If I could cry,
I'd let it all out
but I keep it inside,
until it slips out.
I ignored the fight
I saw yesterday,
beat to the ground, until they took him away.
and his best friend laughed,
With happiness on his face,
Shouting until the blood,
marked the fighting place.
That made their day
they were all glad.
Read the rest of the poem Show less
but no on notice
it was I
who was sad,
and lying still
in the hospital bed
with thick, white,
bandages
wrapped around his head
no visitor or friends
came by to share,
i know they love
i know they care,
they never said it,
now it's too late
and if he dies
it won't be just fate,
instead of saying
sorry my friend
This guilt will last
until the end
and when the machine
signals his last breath,
it's all you "cool" ones
that brought him
to his death.
I saw his parents
I heard the priest say,
let us pray for this life
that just passed away.
then i went to lay
flowers beside him
i could have sworn
i saw you grin.
and off yous go
to your daily life tasks
why suddenly
a change of light?
It's not your choice
but it is your might.
your guilt and shame
you put it away
now i ask you my friends
i ask you this,
is being cool
worth all of this?

"Love this! It starts out so magical and sweet, and then that plot twist at the end hits you like a bad mix of fairy floss and gravity. Perfect ending! 😂🎡 regards Ray" -

"Before It Fell Apart (Revised)" by @Wallyroo92
"I really like this. I think a lot of people can relate to it. I like the flow of the poem and the re-assurance at the end of never going back to that place. Well done. Karriss" -
