Steppes
The brown unmoving steppes
hypnotize in noonday light;
the prickly brushwood
arid rock
thirsty silent earth.
I have known
solitude impregnated
with mysterious consonances
on gray spaces of the steppes.
I have sensed
forms of timid creatures
mimicking grasslands,
hidden from mortal eyes.
Lean horses kneel by water holes
Read the rest of the poem Show less
fed by streamlets dried up long ago.
The beauty of the steppes endures,
enigmatic,
under gray-green fabrics
God weaves over the land.
Sovereign,
Andean heights watch
with sharp eyes of a condor
the quietude of plateaus.
Their unrelenting semblance,
mesmerizing hues
appear to be a craving
numbness or a void
crying out for some transcendent passion
stolen from the unreal dome
of startling blues
-some godly meaning in the sky-
revealed only to the patient eye.

"TRUE POEM The Appointment " by @lovedly
"Dear lovedly, your poem is also emotionally disturbing to me. I've lost two young sons, as you most likely remember, at a very young age. Keep writing and touching other poets' hearts." -

"Hi Lovedly, highly original poem. It was St. Augustine who said we are all sinners. I like the way you've put the SIN into words. Enjoyed, Gracy" -

"Scary poem, Mark. I think your piece is about wildfires and how everything, birds, people and everything is destroyed. The last line is fitting. What a disaster these climate events are." -

"Remember If You Care" by @lovedly
"Hi lovedly, your poem captivates me. It's so philosophical and so true. We are mere specks in the universe, as you say. I suppose we will be forgotten, though I have a spiritual faith that all is not in vain. Enjoyed." -

About Me
I'm inspired by the poets listed above, but also by nature, experience, observation and intuition. I was, sadly, inspired by my son, who died aged 29 of ALS. And by my husband, who had dementia for 15 years. I became widowed 6 years ago. I write in English and Spanish. I'm translating many poems and essays. My topics are climate emergency, forest fires, water shortage and others such as love, illness, pain, etc.
I love all animals and have had many during my lifetime, especially growing up on our farm. Now I have one kitty, whom I adore.
Location: Río Negro, Argentine Patagonia, ARG
Sylvia Plath
T.S. Elliot. Shakespeare
Gongora
Beckett
etc. Many others
such as Cervantes. I have to thank my mother because she read poetry to me from the cradle
so first I learned by memory and soon understood the words. Grammar comes naturally at about 5 years old
without any formal teaching.
