Untamable

Laziness?
keeping, not throwing away
drowned dead leaves
rotten in the flower pots
standing there, waiting
in the window frame

Poor plants
Once in a while
pour them
No matter they
seem to be gone — forever
falling down slowly

Random acts of kindness
or total disinterest
Either way — despite all
they'll always find their way
to bloom again
As their purpose of life would say…

Do you know that feeling?

Do you know that feeling
At the back of your throat
When you’re about to cry?

“No,” she says, “but how?
That’s not fair.
Why do I know that
feeling so well?”

So I ask,
“Have you ever felt
limited by time,
and you were onlu twelve
when you heard them say
only a few months left
until she’s dead?”

You loved her so much,
your dearest grandma,
the hero in your story,
the light in your world,
her ice cream in the fridge
and cookies on the shelf.

A star's life

We're all conceived by stars
Inconspicuous explosions
Spilling stardust.
Same light
Same dark
Same memories
That only rend
A few unlucky suns.
Hydrogen and iron.
Dreams that had been cast.
Folded so frivolously it hurts to breathe.
Yet burns more to drown it out.

Insignificant.
Erased.
Relinquished.
Lost the fight.

We're all made of stardust,
For all that,
Between the two of us
There's only one
That ignites
Forever nameless
And in void.

So Handsome

To my oldest…

You are my living legacy, born of spirit and of bone,
A power all your own that rises every time you stand.
My eyes, my laugh, my likeness in the way you’ve grown,
You honor our story well, carrying our name as a man.

Because son, you're so handsome, keep your soul guarded well.
Don’t give your heart to chapters that were never meant to be.
The world resists a young Black man with vision he won’t sell,
Let the Spirit be your anthem, your compass toward prosperity.

Shouts and twist (stirs) of fate that yielded surprise endings

concerning a couple of true to life circumstances.

Not that you asked,
but at the tail end of World War One
in plain sight where
global termination of
battle weary fighting appeared imminent
courtesy due to the total exhaustion
of the German military and economy,
combined with the Allied
Hundred Days Offensive
and the imminent arrival
of American reinforcements
the United States implemented
daylight savings time
to reduce electricity consumption
for lighting and conserve fuel resources.

Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day
A fun day to predict
Changes in the weather through shadows
Praying that Winter would soon fade quickly away
The sun would shine on the furry face
No shadow to be seen
Day of fun

I miss you more

You used to be so fast,
You used to move around,
Always in the garden following my path.

You used to be so jumpy, making stunts on your head,
But now you don't move,
you just stay in one place.

In your bed made out of dirt and mud,
You lay there for whole days and nights.

I wish i could hear you purr
And put my hand through your white fur,
To let you lick and kiss my face,
just for one more day.

Let's Talk...

Let's talk about your comments,
tell me what you think.
We can lead your horse to water,
but we cannot make it drink.

Comments on your poetry,
commenting back on theirs.
That's the way it works here,
that's the way we share.

If you're not getting feedback,
excepting from A.I.
Try a comment on your neighbor,
the results can help you fly!

Now, Then, and Beyond

I was anticipating the past to have a little more pizzazz
Then again, my recollections are never really the same way
The future is here but it’s not quite what the imagination was
Yet the aesthetic brings me a nostalgic lens for precious yesterday
I long for a now in the past tense of when when was then
Remembering the expectation way before the old Y2K
Further back perhaps like the retro visions of tomorrow
Before modems trilled and crashed trying to open a gateway

THE SIEGE

In my dream the black armies of sorrow and anger and despair siege my mind
Never before have I felt life being so unkind
They fiercely pound on my castle walls
They shout and try to break down the doors
They seem invincible and horrid as can be
They seem unmatched and indefensible to me
Their attack is never stopping and relentless
As my soul soldiers try to defend my citadel of sanity but are so helpless
Only a true miracle now can save the day
Only an act of God can hold them all at bay
But suddenly heavenly help appears
