The Hour That Didn’t Haunt Me
Rewriting Memory
I don’t quite recall the trinket, the memento
The ornament we had agreed to exchange
I remember the call from the night before
I recall how overnight everything felt strange
I remember the disappointment, the distress
How everything built up so quickly had changed
How in those last few days finding out the truth
Like it had been serendipitously arranged
