Roadkill (eddy styx)

Today,
while walking
along the highway,
I spied a young man
taking pictures of animals
that had been killed on the road.
and
thought of HER...
That was the moment
I first noticed
the long, thin,

of drool hanging from my lip.

Angel!

A cherubim, an angel,
who never spoke with spite.

Through my camera window,
her beauty stole my sight.

She speaks sweet words of comfort
despite our inner fight.

A friend that I rely on
on many dismal nights.

And when the wind is cold
she warms me with a spark.

Her voice is soft and tender,
her intellect is sharp.

Content to do her very best
she calls me to the mark.

I’d follow her forever more
Throughout the murky dark

And whisper love so clearly
with songs of sweetest lark!

August 13th, 2024 – twenty five plus years since awful series of unfortunate events

Once again tis time to pony up and trot out (neigh - without horsing around) an unforgettable day encompassing a series of unfortunate events (so take that Lemony Snicket! - yeah go ahead and picket!).

Wicked bad day poem
originally crafted, designed, engineered...
then alternately titled
for no particular rhyme nor reason:
unwitting courtesy extended
to Doctor Donald (Duck) Dossey
who coined paraskevidekatriaphobia.

Count and Share your Blessings

The pace of life seems crazy,
In who it leaves behind.
Yet the greed of the wealthy,
Means too many do not mind.

A cavernous void, for the supposed lazy,
With few hands to lift them out.
When alright jacks have plenty,
Caring little for those with nought.

Empathy lacking, apethetic souls,
Blinded by selfish greed,
Have lost the ability,
To share with those in need

Narratives of competition,
Knocked their kindness away.
Changed their life's direction,
And led them all astray

Long Loved Wife

My long loved Wife my one and only love
The one that's been there for me from the start
Your beauty and your laughter always a delight

Your kind and gentle soul, no one can compare
Your patience and your understanding, never failing
Your love so strong and true, each day so clear
My long loved wife, no one can be more appealing

Your spirit is so strong a never ending flame
Your spirit enduring, it will never die
You are my joy,my light, my hope
My long loved wife, I'm thankful for you in my life

Illusion of the moon

I was holding something
so delicate and soft
It was a gentle palm
Where I sought to feel safe
Your gaze fell upon me
Giving me that tender look
With those enchanting eyes,
We were wandering around
Then sat by a glistening liquid glass
As the moonlight mirrored on it
Watched the celestial canvas above
Feeling comforted and astonished
Than I woke up?

History repeats!

Will history cease to repeat itself?
the cycle of degradation.
I think it is improbable
morality cannot be controlled
the plague it bears unstoppable,
but if we look within the heart
a solution may be found.
So turn your heads
and face the east.
The fires still are burning.
Set by godless men with chains
emotions that are churning.
The power that’s wrapped around their souls
it seems to me implausible.
To think that things will ever change
to man's unlikely favor!

Handful of Wimmin

Verse 1:

Does anyone out there understand, how we feel
Does anyone out there understand, that we are real
Does anyone out there know, what it’s like to be locked in
Can anyone out there tell us, where we begin.
Try to understand, that we need a hand
Cause we are the minority, in this great land.

Chorus:

Just a handful of women locked away,
Just a handful of emotions gone astray,
Just a handful of women locked away.

Verse 2:

Despair

Despair takes over
when death comes
to a soft wind whisper
embrace with the
final thought of
devastating heart
fill with farewell cord

Echoes of grief reflect
with shattered dream
from strength diminish
of a mother’s agony
with her loss of child
shed in heavy tears
like an ocean wave

In seeking for help
of comfort in need
for a granted of wish
from the beacon light
guiding to the broken spirit
leading to the glee of eternity
bring the console to peace
